Message from NAWN’s President It is my pleasure to welcome you to NAWN’s 12 th Annual “An Evening in New Albany”. Tonight we come together to support one of the most fantastic beneficiaries we have ever had, Flying Horse Farms, and NAWN’s own Endowment Fund. On behalf of NAWN, I would like to extend a deep and sincere thank you to this year’s “An Evening in New Albany” chairsDavonne Beh and Lisa Carson. These ladies have lived and breathed this event. Planning began the latter part of 2010, and they have poured their hearts into it ever since. As you can imagine it takes many people to make this event successful, and we thank everyone who has contributed to the committee. All of their hard work would be for naught without our amazing sponsors and donors. From the “jockeys” that embarked upon online fundraising campaigns last summer, to our beyond generous business sponsors, to the hundreds of donors to the silent auction, this wonderful evening would not have been possible without you. Tonight’s event promises to be the best one yet! You will enjoy a fabulously fun derby themed buffet and cash bar, be entertained with actual horse racing, and of course be tempted by many fantastic packages in our silent auction. A week in a Mexican villa? What’s not to love? With all of this set to the signature sounds of The Conspiracy Band, let’s get the party started!

NAWN hopes that you enjoy these amenities while keeping in mind the spirit of the evening–to support the magical and life transforming experiences provided at Flying Horse Farms. Tonight is truly ALL about those precious campers! Fondly,

Christy
Arenschield President, New Albany Women’s Network

NAWN’s

Purpose

NAWN provides a venue for women of the New Albany community to connect socially, as well as leave a lasting impact on the place we call home. We do this through social and special events, charitable projects, neighborhood outreach and signature fundraising events for charitable organizations.

NAWN’s

Endowment Fund

NAWN established an endowment fund in 2003 to fulfill the vision of its founding members to create a lasting legacy benefiting this and future generations. NAWN hopes to grow this endowment fund into a “charitable savings account” that will generate investment income to be used for making grants to worthy causes that impact women and children within New Albany.

Message from Flying Horse Farms

To those who keep our campfire burning bright:

Our gathering tonight is more than a chance to enjoy a great party graciously hosted by the New Albany Women’s Network. Our gathering is more than the triumph of the gracious and extraordinary leadership of Event Chairs, Davonne Beh and Lisa Carson; Beneficiary Research Chair, Debra Lowery; and the countless volunteers and sponsors who made this night possible. Our gathering is more than all these things combined. Tonight, we celebrate the children and families who have been challenged by serious medical conditions—and who have bravely allowed us into their lives. In our first year of camp at Flying Horse Farms, we saw children who were sick, anxious, and isolated transform into children with big, happy memories—and hope for more camp adventures to come. Here, illness took a backseat to laughter and fun. Fear was conquered by encouragement and friendship, and loneliness replaced by the warm spirit of family. Tonight we are charged with keeping our campfire burning bright— for the children who can’t wait to return to camp, and for those who have yet to learn of a diagnosis that will change their lives forever.

Just by being here this evening, you’ve helped further our mission of providing transformative camp experiences for children with serious illness from all over the state of Ohio and beyond. Please join us in continuing your support as we gear up for our second camp season so that we may provide more life changing moments to more children. With Gratitude, Flying Horse Farms

Letter from a Flying Horse Farms Camper

Flying Horse Farms is an important place to me because it allowed me to go to an overnight camp for the first time. It is a place where I fit in and can be myself. While I was there I made many new friends and I had super nice counselors. I enjoyed the fun activities, especially canine, and I ate a lot of delicious food. I learned that it doesn’t matter what you have or what you’ve been through, you are a regular kid. At camp I met friends that understood me and I understood them. I will never forget the amazing week at an amazing camp! Natalia Camper, age 13

With Special Appreciation

We would like to first thank the 2010 and 2011 NAWN Board members for their unwavering support over the past 18 months as we made many changes and together overcame obstacles with a clear and very simple common goal – to raise money for the children and families of Flying Horse Farms. Of course it “takes a village” and this event simply would not have been possible if not for the following people who have given so much of their time and talents to seeing this through to a successful event: Julie Arguelles, Tasha Branham, Amy Parks, Tonya Petrucci, Stacy Ritter, Sarah Ryan, and Julie Zinsmeister! Thank you to all the people who have contributed their time and talents to this year’s event.
