Fiasco on gritting of local roads Herts County Council has abandoned a plan to reduce the number of roads gritted when bad weather is expected - at least for this year - after a petition against the changes run by the Lib Dems. The council had agreed new criteria for the roads gritted but then failed to select the roads correctly. They also failed to tell the contractor who does the work of the changes in time for them to be introduced by the start of the gritting season.
The County Council has been forced to scrap plans to cut the roads gritted in cold weather
They have now said that the changes - which would have included not gritting the road from Graveley to Great Wymondley - will not be introduced until next winter.
Pointless changes to North Road junction We have now all seen the County Council’s response to all the accidents that have taken place at the North Road junction. Over three nights they have slightly changed the hatched areas and painted them red. Why they think that this will have any effect is baffling. Just another example of the County Council wasting money by making pointless changes to this junction that either have no effect or make things worse.
POT HOLE CLAIMS IN HERTS RISE BY 38%
Savings on rubbish collection North Herts Council is planning to operate a joint rubbish and recycling collection service with East Herts Council. This should make no difference to the service, but could save £400,000 a year.
Conservatives break £10billion NHS promise PROMISE BROKEN
Lib Dem Councillor Terry Tyler has accused the Government of “Half truths and less than half the cash,” after it emerged that the Government is giving less than half of the £10bn it pledged to the NHS before last year’s General Election.
Steve Jarvis added, “The NHS must be funded properly.” “With winter on its way our NHS is heading for a crisis.
Parliament’s own Health Committee has said that, far from the £10bn promised. The actual figure is closer to £4.5bn.

“We must demand that the Government stops the cutbacks and half truths and instead concentrates on fixing the serious problems before it’s too late.”
