This magazine cover is produced by ‘Blender’ magazine. On the front cover there are 5 very pretty famous artists who are in a band together called ‘The Pussycat Dolls’. Blender uses this image to attract not only fans but males and females who are attracted to these women on the front cover. This is a presentational device that Blender has used to sell their magazine. As there are not many words used as the picture just says it all! Mise en scene: the image is framed in a medium close up of all the girls, so that you can see their figures. The lighting is very ‘natural’ which fits with the girls, and the sense that they are wearing white. They have all been ‘glammed up’ to look extremely nice in this photo. Their costumes are very petite this is done purposely to grab attention from the readers. Their facial expressions are friendly and show personality.
This shows that these women are represented as ‘sexy, attractive and young’ which is what every adult wants. So this inspires women to buy the magazine to be like these young attractive skinny women. It attracts men as they would see that these women are attractive also that they are wearing hardly any clothing. http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://hiphop.popcrunch.com/wp‐ content/uploads/2008/09/pussycatblender.jpg&imgrefurl=http://crossphazer.wordpress.com/categ ory/blender‐magazine‐%25C2%25B7‐pussycat‐dolls‐%25C2%25B7‐magazine‐ covergirls/&usg=__vWxdUq_t4h_8tmyHmkd‐‐ rpINOM=&h=637&w=480&sz=107&hl=en&start=7&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=dXubz0DXzuphiM:&tbnh=1 37&tbnw=103&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dblender%2Bmagazine%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26um%3D1
This magazine is produced by ‘Vibe’ magazine. It is targeted at young adults and people who like rap music. On the front cover you can clearly see a very famous attractive rap artist. The fact that he is
the dominant image would certainly attract young girls to buy this magazine. Also the magazine cover doesn’t have alot of text which is a good presentational device as that would just put a reader off as the page would be packed. Mise en scene: medium close up of famous rap artist, his clothing matches the background. Good colour co‐ordination. His NVC shows that he is smiling which would certainly attract attention to the magazine because if the artist had a sad facial expression this wouldn’t grab as much attention as a ‘friendly face’. The lighting once again is very natural and makes the famous artist stand out from the background and the words stand out more almost as if they were jumping off the page. http://blog.newsok.com/gossip/files/2009/06/ti‐vibe‐magazine.jpg
The source magazine certainly would grab reader’s attention to when they see a very shocking image on the front cover. The picture reveals everything and says a lot to the reader as they would want to find out more about what the picture is showing. The famous rapper on the front cover shows that he is stressed out and that ‘The Source’ has all the inside gossip! Mise en scence: the lighting is dull around the main image, as it fits the mood of the image. Their is an extreme close up of the famous artist. His NVC shows that he is in some sort of pain and this would cause sympathy from the audience which would make them buy the magazine to find out what is going on in the rappers life and what this image actually means.
This is another magazine from ‘Vibe’ and this clearly shows that most of vibe magazines has an attractive young artist who is wearing harldy any clothing. This yet again attracts readers both male and female for different reasons.
