THE SPIRIT OF

TOGETHER

We are so expectant and full of faith as we approach our ‘Heart For The Mission’ - a truly sacred and significant time for our church family! This special Sunday is when we collectively bring our once-a-year o ering, over and above our regular tithes and o erings, to advance our church’s mission and propel us forward into our future.

At Mission Sunday this year we shared about being the church together, as we seek after a new awakening and a fresh move of the Spirit of God. As a church community, we pray, celebrate, eat, mourn, laugh, and worship together. And we also give, together. When we all bring our faith-o ering, and come together in our giving, the supernatural impact is far beyond what we could ever achieve alone.

We have faith that as each person plays their part, we will be equipped to outwork the mission that God has set before us. We encourage you to prayerfully seek God’s guidance on what you can bring and be bravely obedient to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Every contribution matters, and we’re immensely grateful for each and every one of you.

Thank you for your faithfulness and willingness to partner together to continue to build God’s House. We pray as you sow generously into our Heart For The Mission o ering, you will see miraculous stories unfold, both in your life and in the life of our church. Through this miracle o ering, we believe God will pour out His blessing and His Kingdom will advance, transforming countless lives for His glory!

With love,

HFTH 2023 REPORT

Thank you so much for your support in 2023 – it was an incredible year of God’s faithfulness and kindness within our church. In our local campuses, we saw stories of countless lives changed and transformed through our weekly services. As well, campuses outworked their Local Campus Initiatives which were tailored specifically to meet each campus’ needs. We completed the fit out of our new home in Hobart, which we believe will be a blessing to our church and also the community of Hobart. Additionally, through our continued partnerships with ONE80TC, Vision Rescue, A21, Hillsong Africa Foundation and CityCare, we were able to continue to create significant and sustainable social impact at both a national and international level.

Hobart Update

In 2023, our National Initiative focused on the final refurbishment and transformation of the Avalon Theatre into a new church home for our congregation in Hobart. We are excited to announce that June 2024 sees the doors of our new venue opening, welcoming our community home. Having a permanent venue in the heart of Hobart presents an exciting opportunity for us as we continue to pray and dream for the city. The opening of this building stands as a testament to the support and generosity of our church family. It is truly inspiring to witness what we can achieve when we unite our faith and rally together. God is on the move, and we are excited for what is to come in the city of Hobart!

Hillsong Africa Foundation Testimony

2023 Social Impact Partners Report

Through Hillsong Africa Foundation, individuals like Damian* (a former gang member for 26 years) receive support and the tools needed to break free from destructive cycles such as substance abuse. While incarcerated, Damian attended ‘Strength’, a course designed to raise up and empower young men. In November 2022, he was released, and had hopes of getting his life back on track, reinstating his family unit and integrating back into society. Unfortunately, due to an incident which caused him to regress, he was re-incarcerated within weeks of his release. While behind bars again, Damian’s sense of remorse led him to attend another ‘Strength’ course, but this time the concepts really resonated loud and clear in his heart. By grace, Damian was granted amnesty a few months later and in September 2023 he was released. He immediately found a church location and connected with the Prison Focus team. Through aftercare with the team, Damian was encouraged to reconcile with his daughters, who he now goes to church with every Sunday. He has also secured employment and is currently being considered for an electrical apprenticeship.

Local Campus Initiatives

What are we doing in 2024?

In 2024, we are continuing to develop purpose filled Jesus followers, build healthy church communities and have a significant and sustainable social impact in the world around us. These three mission pillars are foundational to everything that we do, helping our Heart For The Mission initiatives resource the mission that God has called us to. This year, we’re building on the momentum of the four initiatives we introduced in 2023, extending their reach and influence across Australia and the rest of the world. We’re committed to moving our Australian church forward with our National Initiatives & Future Fund, serving our local communities through our Local Campus Initiatives, strengthening our global mission with our Global Church Planting & Support Initiative and continuing to partner with our Significant & Sustainable Social Impact Initiatives.

Last year we introduced our Local Campus Initiatives to empower and enable our campuses to meet the specific needs within their communities. Over the past year, we’ve heard incredible stories of God at work within and through our campuses. Some of the highlights include investing into our next generation through upgrading and renovating kids facilities and purchasing a van to bring youth to Friday night services. We have also been able to partner with local organisations to reach our communities through the work they are already doing. The impact of these initiatives has been tangible and positive for both our church and the greater community. Let’s be expectant to keep hearing more miracle stories of God’s ongoing work across all of our campuses as we continue to invest in this important part of our mission.

National Initiatives & Future Fund

Our National Initiatives allow us to take ground together as a church by investing in spaces and places of belonging for our church community in Australia. This is an opportunity to unite and participate in a collective e ort that magnifies our impact beyond our individual e orts. Throughout our history, when we’ve collectively focused our e orts on helping a location find a permanent home, we’ve witnessed that location flourish, grow and move forward. Also, this year we are preparing to establish a ‘Future Fund’, where we can build our capacity to finance what God is doing in our communities. We are currently searching for the right property for our Greater Western Sydney (GWS) campus as well as other Australian locations. While each of us can make a di erence on our own, when we come together we unlock the potential to achieve something truly powerful and extraordinary for God’s glory! Your non tax deductible giving to Heart For The Mission will help make this possible.

Significant & Sustainable Social Impact Initiatives

This year, we continue our ongoing partnerships with CityCare, Hillsong Africa Foundation, ONE80TC, Vision Rescue and A21. Collaborating with these trusted organisations allows us to support and amplify their impactful work. Together, we can continue to make a di erence in changing the lives and communities of those in our own backyards as well as around the world.

CityCare

Building on the previous years momentum, CityCare’s focus in 2024 will be on expanding the positive partnerships we have established and forging new ones! One of our primary goals is to collaborate with local campuses, empowering them to make a meaningful social impact within their local communities. Playgroups are a great example of this e ort, with several campuses now hosting them. This frees up our community workers to focus on expanding our other partnerships and programs in the community.

This year, we are concentrating on creating the framework for our new Community Safe Space program, with the aim of launching shortly. Community Safe Spaces will provide a consistent meeting place for vulnerable individuals and families, facilitating social connections and providing a place for access to local services and support. Further reflection on our prior year activities has meant that over the coming 12 months we desire to have a localised response framework as well as the applicable funding that will enable us to respond swiftly within our communities when faced with localised incidents. Together, we can continue to make a positive impact, building hope within our communities.

Hillsong Africa Foundation

Hillsong Africa Foundation (HAF) continues to see profound examples of lives changed through their programs. Within the prison system, HAF programs have expanded to reach more groups of incarcerated people, and the postrelease support continues to be strengthened. A new formal relationship with the Department of Correctional Services ensures HAF has opportunities to continue making a di erence. Shine and Strength courses are being run in church locations, schools, community centres, shelters and prisons across South Africa, with incredible stories emerging from participants who have found renewed purpose and hope through the courses.

The iHub program continues to provide much needed skills and training, which in turn leads to job placements for graduates. In 2024, HAF will continue to train and upskill African youth, empowering them to be propelled further into their future.

ONE80TC

ONE80TC is an Australian organisation who work to rescue, rebuild and restore the lives of those caught in the devastating cycle of drug and alcohol abuse. There are so many personal testimonies of lives changed through the work of ONE80TC. 2024 sees the continuation of transforming many lives, while continuing to explore new opportunities for growth.

Vision Rescue

Vision Rescue works tirelessly to engage and sustain children in education across some of the most marginalised communities in India. Their Beacon Learning Centres are situated within these communities, making access possible for families who struggle to send their children to school. Not only are children being educated, and subsequently protected from exploitation, but their families are being strengthened and supported by the wholistic program Vision Rescue operates to ensure children can remain in school. As well, a sports program is run by Vision Rescue to help maintain children’s attendance within the government school system.

A21 (Thailand)

2023 was a time of capacity-stretching for the team at A21 in Thailand, as they received more than twice the anticipated number of new survivors into their care. This was largely due to new methods of tra icking activities emerging in Southeast Asia. The aftercare team managed to find creative solutions, delivering services to more survivors than expected and reaching those in more remote locations.

Despite an abnormally higher case load than usual, in 2024 the team remains committed to long term restoration for survivors and will continue to see them making progress through the aftercare program, with the hope for more to transition into independent living.

Global Church Planting & Support Initiative

Church planting is part of who we are as a community, and we are excited for what the future may hold as we build upon our rich history of establishing new churches. We maintain a strategic approach in launching new church plants, while also prioritising the reinforcement and strengthening of our existing global church communities. As a church planting movement, this endeavour remains integral to our identity and vision for the future.
