Sign-on for Winter Sport Arana Netball Club this year celebrates 40 years since its inception, in 1977.

The Club began very much under the guidance of the Arana Leagues Club, hence the adoption of the traditional Arana sporting club’s colours of red, black, and white. Since those days, Arana Netball Club has grown, with the number of teams fluctuating with changing population trends in the local community

and the establishment of new netball clubs. Uniforms have been updated several times, training courts have been established in Leslie Patrick Park, Arana Netball has become part of Arana Sports, and at all times the Club strives to meet the needs of the community of the Hills District, north-west Brisbane suburbs, and bordering areas. With this year ’s sign-on scheduled for Sunday, 29th January, from 4pm to 6pm, the Club is hoping for a great year to coincide with this significant anniversary.

This year’s sign-on will be held at the training courts in Leslie Patrick Park, Arana Hills, making use of the new shed at this site. At sign-on, as well as registering for the 2017 season, players can pay fees (EFTPOS facilities available) try on and order uniform items, and receive information about the trial fun day planned for Sunday 5th February and about the selection trials to follow over the next couple of weeks. Proof of date of birth is required from players under 20 years of age registering

with Arana Netball for the first time. It is now possible for players to register on-line – see the Club web site at www. arananetballclub.com.au – and payment can be made by on-line transfer to the Club’s bank account. Again, for details check on the web site. Players in the Net Set Go age groups, 8 to 10 years, (born 2007 to 2009) must register through MyNetball. Details about this can be obtained on the web site, at Sign-on, or by phoning the Registrar, Nathan, on 0433 810 308. These on-line facilities mean it is now possible for players to register and pay without attending sign-on evening, as long as uniforms are not needed. Fees for this year are $280.00 for the first player in a family, reducing to $260.00 for subsequent dependent family members up to 18 years of age. Arana Netball Club is registered with the State Government Get in the Game programme for eligible junior players to be able to apply for and use $150.00 Get Started vouchers towards fees. For these vouchers, families need to be registered before the grants open – for more details see www.nprsr.qld.gov.au/ getinthegame .
