Dental Assisting This course prepares students for employment in all phases of the dental office: patient management, laboratory procedures, and chair side assisting. Practical on-site clinical experience is one of the program’s many strengths. The program is certified by the Council of Dental Education of the American Dental Association and is accredited by the American Dental Association. Dental Assisting graduates exit the program with certificates in Dental Radiography and Expanded Functions. These certificates have been approved for issuance by the State of Florida through the Erwin Dental Assisting Program. X-Ray Exam Preparation Basic This class is NOT an X-Ray Technician program. It is designed for individuals working in the medical field who wish to learn and be licensed to operate basic x-ray equipment. However, others may enroll for the purpose of qualifying for future employment in the medical field with the understanding that passing the state certification test does not necessarily guarantee employment. This class teaches the skills required to operate small xray machinery frequently found in doctors’ offices or in small hospitals (150 beds or fewer). Students prepare for the State of Florida Certification Test for Basic Radiology Machine Operator. Students may apply to take the state test after beginning the class. The state testing is an additional cost to students. A high school diploma or GED is required for state certification. Length of Study: 92 Hours Class Meets: Evening/Part-Time
