Today, we see the bystander effect taking over our cities, especially in low-income communities where there is a lot of homelessness. When a homeless approaches an individual, it might cause anxiety. However, people should help those in need to decrease poverty rates. Most individuals ignore homeless people because they believe that others will help them find a solution to their problems. Unfortunately, homeless people get the help they need very rarely. This problem does not only impact my community but the economy.

Depressants: Depressants are drugs that reduce neural activity and slow body functions, such as alcohol. Depressants are used everywhere in our communities. Some people use it to relieve stress, while others use it to forget about the problems occurring in their lives. I believe that depressants are impacting our society. They are affecting the mental health of individuals. I personally know some people who were addicted to alcohol and are now homeless people living on the streets. People should be cautious when they take a depressant. During quarantine, people around the country are getting stressed, whether it's because they might have lost their job or are having a hard time keeping up with their grades. No matter the circumstances, people should lower their levels of stress. It can hugely impact their health, causing a severe state of depression. I used to be a person who would get stressed regularly, but now I use techniques to cope, such as exercising at night.

Alzheimer’s:

Alzheimer's disease is a brain disease that slowly impairs memory and thinking skills. Alzheimer's has impacted some people in my family. It's sorrowful seeing someone going from good mental health to the need of belonging in a nursing home. I know other people in my community suffer from Alzheimer's and strive every day to reach their goals. No one is incapable of doing something they love. It might just take time.
