EDDIE GOMEZ CESARIUS ALVIM

The music flowed effortlessly. Each tune taking shape with its own personality. The titles, sound and textures perfectly meshing. A truly moving experience. It was as if they played together everyday. What a treat! As the session progressed everything became more fluid. There was less discussion and more music, ideas embraced sensitive compositions. As you listen you too will be drawn into the mood that was that day. We were all connected. I know you’ll feel and enjoy the spirit of this recording as much as I enjoyed being a part of it. Until we meet again Cesarius let your music flow… Joe Marciano, New York, June 2010
An engineer is rarely called upon to write liner notes so I was both flattered and excited when asked to do so. Not knowing Cesarius, I was intrigued when I learned I’d be working together with him and my old friend Eddie Gomez. I knew if Eddie consented to a duo project it would be something to behold. My instincts were correct. Not everyone has the opportunity to attend a recording session so let me give you a glimpse into that creative world. January. New York. Grey. No place better on earth to be than in the cozy environment of a studio. Meeting Cesarius was interesting as I don’t speak French and he spoke little English but later this was of little consequence. I’ll explain. We got acquainted and talked about the set up with producer Sylvain Le Pennec. Eddie arrived and he and Cesarius reminisced of playing together many years ago — wonderful memories shared. They got comfortable in the studio while Sylvain and I took our places in the control room. After some short discussion the magic began. The admiration and collaboration between these two legendary musicians was incredible to witness.
