Take Note Make Your Plans to Attend Parents’ Night Thursday, August 20 6:30 p.m. Spencer Center During Parents’ Night, the Highlands shuttle bus will run beginning at 6:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. from the old Mountain Brook Swim & Tennis Club (5601 Old Leeds Road)
Dear Parents, As fall arrives in my favorite "Chick Flick," one of the characters emails his e-pal, "I would give you a bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address." I enjoy the contrast between the yellow Number 2 pencils and the high-tech (at the time) communication tool of email. Tynley Baker and a team of designers have been working diligently for the last few months on a new and improved Highlands School website to make it the best communication tool it can be. We have also jumped into social networking with a Facebook Fan Page and Twitter – tools that offer informal snippets of information and allow for interactions among our community members. Please enjoy our newly updated website (due to launch tonight!), complete with teacher pages, our Facebook Fan Page, and Twitter. I hope we all remember, though, that sometimes a name and address and newly sharpened pencils along with a face-to-face conversation may be the best tools.
