aime Meares, 30, is one funny gal. A funny gal who made her wildest dreams come true after being unceremoniously sacked from her job in Raleigh, North Carolina and began pondering making some bold moves while wandering around her home eating half sandwiches for three months. Her blog, I Suwannee, has been popular since its inception in 2007 and thanks to a feature in the New York Times, in which Jamie lamented to demise of Domino with all the vigor readers the world over felt, her witty banter and beautiful inspiration pictures became an even bigger hit. But she still had a burning desire to open a shop, and so in 2009 she cut the ribbon on an adorable brick and mortar shop, Furbish Studio, in which she sells refinished vintage furniture, a variety of delightful home accessories and runs her interior design business. After a mention in Elle Décor as one of its notable “Hot Shops,” she found the need to make her wares available online, and in 2010 launched. We adore her aesthetic and even more so her charming, hilarious personality and wanted to know just how this only child with a penchant for Swiffering and a well-curated bookshelf made this all happen for herself.

It’s all in the mix for Meares where traditional print Schumacher drapes meets a bold wall color (Oh So Red from American Tradition) in the living room, accented by a bevy of animal print accessories including a zebra sculpture found in a side of the road antiques shop.
