Sports Leaders updates
Our year 10 level 1 sports leaders successfully completed their internal verification and assessment last Friday, 18 June.

During national school sport week there have been a number of activities taking place:
• In our year 7 PE lessons this week, GB tennis player, Yasmin Clarke came to school to deliver a tennis session. • Our girls cricket club were in action again with Derbyshire Cricket captain, Lauren on Wednesday 23 June. • Year 9 Girls FA project students planned and delivered a lunchtime drop in session for girls. • The girls netball club run by Mrs Wildgoose met to play a game.





Sports activities in our feeder primaries continued this week with Mrs Allen and Mr Molyneux attending St Giles Primary School to deliver cricket to year 3/4 and 5/6 students on 24 June.

The year 9 FA girls ‘game of our own’ project for the summer term 2021 came to a conclusion this week with a reflection session on Zoom with FA coach, Lisa. The girls have now successfully completed the course and will be awarded the FA Girls Youth Sport award. They are now planning further girls football sessions for September with year 10 girls ready for when our current year 8 students move to year 9.



GB tennis player, Jade Windley, began the first of three sessions with our year 8 students involved in the 2021 ‘beyond the baseline’ tennis project.
The final voice of sport group meeting took place today via Zoom. The group reflected on the past year and are looking forward to the new academic year. The group thanked Mrs Turner for her support over the years.

Derbyshire Cricket Coach, Charlie Storr, will be in school on Wednesday 30 June and Wednesday 7 July to train leaders to gain a cricket activators qualification in the sports hall at lunch from 1 1.30pm
