The year 7 Youth Sport Trust ‘Boys Move’ project research has been presented to Youth Sport Trust.

Step into Sport

Our year 9 sports leaders attended their second session of ‘step into sport’ with Mrs Allen and Mrs Turner.

Sports mentoring with Jade Windley

Jade Windley, our athlete mentor, led a Zoom session for a group of year 10 sports leaders on Thursday afternoon with Mrs Allen. Our year 7 ‘active in mind’ group were also included for a one hour session with their tutor Mr Mollyneux.

Girls Leadership project

The FA /Barclays sponsored ‘Girls Leadership’ project webinar for staff took place ready for the live launch of the national project next week.

Voice of Sport group

The April voice of sport meeting took place via Zoom today, 30 April. Thank you to everyone who attended and discussed ideas.

Sport development

Mrs Allen has attended a number of webinars this week to keep up to date with developments – the Sports Leaders UK ‘transition project’ webinar for year 6 students to support students with their transition from primary to secondary school; the Youth Sport Trust ‘summer school’ webinar and the YST webinar on ‘embedding personal development in the PE offer’.

Sports Leaders assessments

Sports Leaders internal assessments for years 11 and 12 took place last week.

All students were brilliant in their delivery and Mrs Turner and Mrs Allen were thrilled with the adaptation of students during this Covid challenging year.

Wednesday 5 May – year 9 girls will have a day of cricket with England Coach, Lydia Greenway, at Darley Dale Cricket Club – students involved have been informed. Full details are available from Mrs Allen.
