I am saved!

(A Testimony by Brian Lalor) I have been a Christian for four years and eight months. I was saved during Tet, 2009. Since that day, when I decided to “really” give my life to Jesus, He has blessed me beyond imagination. He has given me a wife, a daughter, a good job and a handful of friends who are willing to stand with me through thick or thin. I have also had the blessing of understanding suffering daily through degenerated discs and GERD. My testimony is this. I was living in sin, by living with a girl even though we were not married. I was also extremely addicted to alcohol and prayed to idols as much as I did to Jesus. After a series of events that I do not have the word count to go into here, I was at the end of myself. I was constantly trying to get out of sinful relationships and stop binge drinking. I would get off it for a week or two, but always slip back. One morning, alone in my room, I listened to a sermon by Mark Driscoll called ‘Trial and Sin’, the first sermon in his series from 1st Peter. The pastor was calling men to be men and he let us know very clearly what sin was. I got on my knees and asked Jesus to save me. I had done this many times before, but that was the first time I “really” meant it. He saw my heart and said, “Enter into a covenant with me to not drink alcohol, have sex outside of marriage or worship idols.” I said, “I cannot.” He said, “Just give it to me.” I made the covenant and, by His grace, four years and eight months later, here I stand. The following week, Dan Drage brought me to the HIF Men’s Breakfast and I began being discipled by Russell Fryer. I still struggle daily with my health and faith, but boy is it great know I am saved!
