When CWB (Coburn Welch Boutin) Architects was founded in 1995, it was a two-person practice focused on historic row house renovations. Since then, it has expanded into a multi-disciplinary firm which creates residential and commercial spaces throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, Westchester, New Jersey, Connecticut and Eastern Long Island. CWB is experienced in historic renovation, residential architecture adapted for modern living and commercial spaces crafted for collaboration and productivity. CWB works with clients’ needs, vision and budget to derive imaginative solutions. Part of that process includes identifying design challenges at the start of a project, so the finished work feels integrated and effortless. The firm’s work in urban settings (where limited square footage presents unique demands) helped shape its core philosophy. The creation of spaces that are simultaneously simple and complex, elegant and modest, luxurious and understated is the basis of all CWB’s work.
