American Legion Boys State is among the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for high school students. It is a participatory program where each student becomes a part of the operation of his local, county, and state government.

Hidalgo County Pct.1 and Commissioner David L. Fuentes were honored to host the graduation ceremony at our Pct.1 Conference Center.

At American Legion Boys State, participants are exposed to the rights and privileges, the duties and the responsibilities, of a franchised citizen. The training is objective and practical, with city, county, and state governments operated by the students elected to the various offices. Commissioner met with these young men yesterday here at our Pct.1 Conference Center as he shared his experiences with Texas Boys State.

Congratulations to the Texas Boys State Graduates!

Congratulations to the Monte Alto Fire Department! They recently received much needed equipment. A set of 10 complete protective gears were given to the Monte Alto Fire Rescue. Each set includes helmets, hoods, gloves, coats, pants, and boots with a lifetime of approximately 10 years. A special thank you to the Urban County Department and the Office of Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez.
