Welcome to the SSO’s 2017-18 Season

Dear friends~ Great music inspires. Its beauty, power and exquisite craftsmanship fill us with wonder and gratitude. As we are swept up in its emotional surge, we experience a new sense of what it really means for something to be called majestic.

our season with Schumann’s beloved Piano Concerto and Ricardo Morales, principal clarinetist of the legendary Philadelphia Orchestra, joins us for the sublime beauty of Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto.

No word could better describe Beethoven’s rarely-heard Choral Fantasy, or the final, monumental symphonies of Brahms, Mendelssohn and Schubert, all of which are featured in our 2017-18 Willis-Knighton Masterworks Series. We will also experience mastery in equal measure as we welcome brilliant soloists to our stage. Philippe Quint returns to share the lush, cinematic violin concerto by Korngold, and Shreveport native John-Henry Crawford brings the highly entertaining cello concerto by Friedrich Gulda. Wideman Gold Medalist Aristo Sham opens

We’ll marvel at the power and breadth of the film masterpieces of John Williams, and enjoy the unique talents of Erich Bergen, star of Jersey Boys and Madam Secretary. And in a real coup, we’re thrilled to be bringing Broadway sensation Sutton Foster to light up our stage for the holidays. Don’t miss a note! Your Shreveport Symphony is better than ever. Join us for a season filled with The Majesty of Music!
