the national board for the sorority. The importance of leadership – providing an example by carrying projects through, the value of diplomacy – working with those who are different but still being able to bridge under a unified goal, and communication are the pillars with which Ann has launched and built a successful career. In embracing the philosophy of giving back to the community, Ann has learned this focus can also exhibit in your personal life. A mother to a child diagnosed with autism, Ann has learned the value of the ‘small win’- the shaving off of seconds that go into winning a race, as opposed to focusing on the big win, as an approach to success. As a professional Latina, a single parent, and community advocate, Ann believes that we as Latinas can do all things, just not necessarily full force at the same time. Accept it; it is okay to place priority on the things you value, and take calculated risks to develop your career and personal life based on those values.
Ann is an example of a Latina who has chosen to embrace the principles of SIA in her professional and personal life. Her dedication to the advancement of the Latino culture is one of merit and she is a proud Ann’s focus on the community stems from her representative for the many Latinas who have been foundation as a SIA.
