Enough Already! Many of the regula r attendees of the Tuesday Evenin g Bible study have heard the “ womenfo lk” at Heritage carrying on for years about how much they enjoy their involvement in Beth Moore Bible studie s. We have decided to see what all that chatter is about and do Beth Moore’s study, Jesus the One and Only, beginning on April 17th. This is an eleven week study that was shot on location in Israel several years ago. The study will consist of watchin g about a 45 minute video and be followed by about 30-40 minutes of group discussion. After a Week One introductio n the weekly subject titles for the remain der of the study are: The Word Made Flesh, The Son of God, The Way and Life, The Esteem of Man, The Christ of God, The Necessity, The Infin ite Treasure, The Answer, The Lamb of God, and The Risen Hope. There is no cost for materials and no outsid e study is required. In the in troduction to the study materials Beth Moore writes, “ We will never spend our time more valuably th an in th e pursuit of knowing Jesus Christ. My deepest prayer is that this offering would take you another step closer in the noble st pursuit of life.” If you are a guy or a gal that works during th e day and can’t participate in the daytime Beth Moore studie s offered at Heritage why not maintain the spiritu al high of the Easter season and become a part of the Tuesday Evening Adult Bible class. It meets from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at HU MC in Room 108. Contact John Hall (897-3179) or Cin dy Svec (397-8996) if you have questions

Emergency Assistance Program Because of your generous fin ancial donations made on Communion Sundays, Heritage United Methodist Church is blessed to be able to offer some types of fin ancia l assistance to members of our community who are in need. If you (or a member of our community) have come to our office because you are in need of assistance, we welcome you and will help you as much as our policies and resources allow. We are only able to offer assistance once in a 12-month period. In order to best serve those in need, we have adopted the following values: Member Assistance Values of Care • We seek to provide care for the whole person, not just their financial needs. For that purpose, financia l care of our congregation will be a team approach combining pastoral care, counseling if needed, and other resources. • We seek to reframe the current reality of the situatio n and encourage what can be sustainable for a period of time. Sometimes this is in th e fo rm of reframing the type of lifestyle and financia l need th at they are currently in and the hope for a new life. • We try to be a good steward of the money that the church has entrusted to us to care for those in our congregation who are in need. • We strive to encourage people towards financial health and providin g a plan where they can be self-sustaining in the shorte st amount of time. • We strongly encourage members to attend worship regula rly and particip ate in a small group. We also encourage them to serve and to give as they are able. • We believe that finances are often a symptom of stresses and strains in other areas of their life. We seek to provid e holistic care by encouraging the member to talk about the rela tional, spiritual, and emotional effects of the financia l strain . We listen confidentially to the care and concern of the person and try to assess what would be most helpful for them in their jo urney of faith and hope to live an abundant life and the life that God desires for them to live. In order to receive assistance, the individual in need must fill out an Emergency Assistance Information Form. This does not guarante e that they will receive assistance. It gives us necessary information so that we can determine if and how we can help. The Emergency Assistance Form (and other in formative documents) can be lo cated in the lucite rack hanging in the hallway just across from the main office (the “ choir room/restroom” hallway). Please remember that all information shared is held confidentia lly. If you have a need, or have questions/concerns regardin g this program, please contact Rev. Russell Brown, Senior Pastor – or Melissa Edman, Caring Ministries Director. “Feed the hungry and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as the day.” Isaiah 58:10
