At the December Congregational Meeting, Pastor Sullivan shared the following vision, inspired by 1 Corinthians 3:6. Please be in prayer and meditate on 1 Corinthians 3:6.

Invest in Heritage Families & Congregation (In-Reach)

• Staff Expansion-Expertise & resources to support our ministries and outreach • Expand Youth Program and Implement Awana -Awana is a world-wide nonprofit ministry focused on providing Bible-based evangelism and discipleship solutions for ages 2-18. As the global leader in child and youth discipleship, Awana gives children the opportunity to know, love and serve Jesus, no matter their background. Youth programs will be realigned to enhance the spiritual, cultural, social and educational experiences of our youth. • Seasoned Saints fellowship opportunities- Meeting the spiritual, social and cultural needs of our Senior members • Israel Focused Trip-Christian Education to re-frame our reading of scripture, understanding of Bible, making us a more informed biblical people • Coffee Conversations- Informal sessions with Pastor Sullivan offering answers to theological questions and issues concerning Heritage Fellowship Church • Bible Study in smaller groups will be launched throughout the Fairfax and Loudoun communities to foster fellowship and and spiritual growth.

A Closer Portrayal of God’s will for His Church: Heritage is a place that impacts members & community • Revival- Growing and celebrating the word of God • Youth Retreat-Instilling faith and leadership in future generations • Watch Night-Celebrating our faith, fellowship, service in Jesus’ name


Coffee Conversations

Coffee Conversations, hosted by the New Members and Greeters Ministry, will begin in the first quarter of 2019. Coffee Conversations allows first time guests and regular visitors to meet and greet Pastor Sullivan informally over a cup of coffee. If you bring guests to Church with you, please ensure they participate in Coffee Conversations. Additional information will be provided in the monthly bulletin and during the announcements.

The Ministry of Music and Worship Arts

“Speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord”. Ephesians 5:19

The Ministry of Music and Worship Arts will launch an extended effort to engage more congregation members with the Ministry. Planned activities include: The Ministry of Music and Worship Arts New Member Sign Up - Jan. 27 Immediately following both services information will be provided about the Ministry of Music and Worship Arts and to encourage new member participation.

Write the Vision—Make it Plain: Moving Forward with the Ministry of Music and Worship Arts Jan 26 - 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. This event will explain the new direction of the Ministry of Music and Worship Arts, provide an opportunity for questions and answers, and enlist the participation of those desiring to help support the ministry’s efforts. Youth Ministries

“All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.” Isaiah 54:13 Youth Ministries held a Teen Servant Leaders retreat on January 5. • On February 3 following the 10:45 a.m. service, Youth Ministry will convene a Parent-Youth Town Hall. Please begin to share this date with Parents. We want to hear what parents and youth expect from the Ministry. • The Teen Center will be painted during January. Currently, the youth are developing a logo and ministry name. Additional programmatic updates will be presented at the Parent-Youth Town Hall in February. COMMUNICATIONS “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie”. Habakkuk 2:2-4 The Director of Communications has begun working on the upgrade and redesign of the Church website. • The new Church website will launch on or before March 30. The website features event registration capabilities, integrates with SecureGive and will function across all mobile platforms. • For user convenience, during the months of January and February, Heritage’s website URL and ministerial emails will slowly migrate to www.HeritageReston.org. • The Church mobile app is being updated, featuring daily bible studies, event calendar, sermons and most importantly push notifications on church events,

activities, and emergencies. To access the mobile app, members must download the app to their mobile or portable device. Additional information will be shared with the congregation during the announcements. • A new Heritage Style Guide and Branding Manual will be published during February. This guide will include an updated font and color palette for Heritage publications, social media, and other communications. HERITAGE HELPS “Casting all you care upon Him, for He cares you.” Heritage Fellowship Church is concerned and aware that several of our members are affected by the government shutdown. If you and your family are experiencing hardships or unmet needs, we encourage you to contact your assigned Deacon. With compassion and love our Deacons are prepared to provide resources and support to members including prayers, benevolence resources, referrals and other forms of support.

The Academic Enhancement Committee (AEC) provides Heritage youth with engaging and enriching academic experiences. Registration is currently open for the HBCU Southen Tour, allowing students to visit Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, Spelman, and Tuskegee University.

New Board Members Installed

On Saturday, January 12 the following Heritage members were installed as members of the Board of Directors: Corey Briscoe

Corey Briscoe is the Managing Partner for Operations and Talent Acquisition at ABCD & Company. He serves with the Heritage Choir, Young Adults and Singles Ministry and the 40X40 Campaign.

Lance Farquharson

Lance Farquharson works as a U.S. Customs & Border Security Officer. Lance serves with the Young Adults and Singles Ministry and the Community Outreach Ministry.

Mia Johnson

Mia Johnson is the Treasury Manager for Continental Building Products. She serves with the Senior Usher Ministry and is coservant leaders of the Academic Enhancement Committee.

Roderick “Rocky” Mitchell

Roderick Mitchell is an executive Vice President with PenFed. He has held numerous leadership positions at Heritage. He currently serves on the Mission Ministry.

Bible Institute 2019 Spring CLASSES

“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 The classes for the 2019 Spring Session of the Heritage Fellowship Church Bible Institute begin the week of February 4th. Registration will be held on January 20th, and 27th, 2019, after each time of worship. Course summaries are available at heritagefellowshipchurch.org.
