A Heritage of Innovation

Our Roots

Since the early beginnings of Heritage Cooperative, we have focused on the needs of our customer-owners and worked hard to adapt our products and services to the changing marketplace. The Mahoning Farm Bureau Association Inc., which is now our Canfield Country Store and Grain location, adapted to customers’ needs by selling hardware and served as a local Co-op tractor dealer. The tractor featured here is a 1952 Co-op E2, the same model as the Cockshutt 20. When Co-op tractors were introduced in the 1930s, horses were still part of the competition. As farmers of that era longed for a better way of doing things, our Canfield store became a Co-op dealer. The brand offered a more economical source of tractor power than competitors at the time and greatly improved efficiency. As time marches on and trends come and go, Heritage stays at the forefront of new opportunities to create value for our customers-owners.

Continuous Improvement

At Heritage Cooperative, our business is your business. We strive to be your partner of choice by providing value to our member-owners through individualized solutions. One of the ways we create added value for our customers is through continuous improvement, one of our core values. Heritage provides forward-thinking, customized solutions in grain merchandising, agronomy, energy, feed, and retail. The following examples are just a few of the many ways we have recently implemented continuous improvement across our divisions.

Energy E-Commerce

The Future of Feed

The lubricants division of 1st Choice Energy has provided our customers with a new avenue to purchase products online.

Our recent acquisition of Witmer’s Feed & Grain allows us to continue diversifying our products and services by enhancing feed production and operations throughout Ohio and the surrounding states. The organization’s stateof-the-art feed manufacturing facility, grain, agronomy, and retail locations allow Heritage to provide superior service to our customers in eastern Ohio.

With 1stchoicelubricants.com, customers not only have access to an extensive inventory of the top brands on the market, but they also receive competitive prices, 24/7 ordering access, and fast delivery from major national carriers direct to their location.

1952 Co-op E2

The tractor featured here was never sold at our dealership. Instead, the 1952 Co-op E2 was used to run the blower with a belt pulley to load wheat into railroad box cars to transport to flour mills. This tractor was utilized for this purpose at our Canfield location until railroad hopper cars became more prevalent.

Agronomy Advancements

Strides in Grain

We recently purchased two RoGator dry application systems with AirMax® Precision R2, UltraSpread™ motors, and TurnLogic™ technology. This equipment will provide enhanced custom application services for our growers.

We are taking strides to advance our grain facilities in Kenton and Upper Sandusky.

While having cutting-edge equipment is important, having trained employees to operate the equipment is just as critical. That’s why several of our custom applicators and members of the ag technology team participated in the Raven Precision Top Gun program. This 2-day program provides in-depth information and training on custom application systems and products.

Kenton’s $12M project will extend over the next three years. The project will provide improved grain services and storage through leading technology, enhanced logistics, implementation of CompuWeigh automated technology, CSX track extension to accommodate 100 car unit train, and a one-million-bushel bin addition, ultimately providing 4.4M bushels of storage capacity at this facility. The $3.4M project at Upper Sandusky consists of building a steel Chief grain storage bin on the west side of the property, providing an additional 750,000 bushels of grain storage, increasing the total facility capacity to just over 4 million bushels.
