Dear Friend,

E&S Wood Creations has been crafting quality furniture in rural Indiana since 1987. At first, custom kitchens and custom furniture were our main focus. In the late 1990s, as the wholesale market became a factor, we adapted accordingly first by adding bedroom furniture, and then office and living room furnishings. Most pieces are available in Oak, Cherry, Rustic Cherry, Brown Maple, Hard Maple, Rustic Quartersawn White Oak, Hickory, Rustic Hickory, Walnut, or Grey Elm. Other species are also available upon request.

Today, 37 years later, with our production facility having grown from 3,000 sq. ft. to 12,000 sq. ft., our commitment to quality is still our goal; selecting good grade wood, quality hardware, carefully fitted parts and hands-on attention even though our tools and equipment are more modern. Over the years we have enjoyed many friendships with our dealers and customers, but like everything else, time brings changes. We, Ervin and Suella, have decided to make a change and are doing a phase in/phase out of the business with our son Anthony and his family. He has been with the company since 2015 and will bring new ideas to the table. However, his goals are the same as ours have been: to ensure that you get a quality product at a fair price and great customer service after the sale. We still plan to be involved over the years to come, but our goal is to spend more time with our grandchildren and the rest of the family.

We are the makers of a furniture that is worth the wait and likely to be passed along to heirs for generations to come.

The Nature of Wood

Much of the beauty of wood comes from its variation in color and grain, characteristics that make each piece of solid wood furniture unique. Even with the same building methods and finishing processes, no two pieces will be exactly the same. Most hardwoods are open grained, causing solid wood furniture, even with protective finishes, to expand and contract with changes in temperature and humidity. This can cause minor cracking and surface checks which are not considered flaws, but rather nature’s "beauty marks." To minimize these effects, indoor humidity should be kept in the 35-40% range. Solid wood furniture should also be kept away from direct sources of heating and cooling, direct sunlight, and fluorescent lighting and should not be stored in attics or basements. When cared for properly your E&S furniture will become a piece of timeless beauty that will be treasured for generations.

Cleaning & Care

Routine Cleaning and Care

DUST CAREFULLY with a soft cloth, following the grain pattern of the wood. Use an old T-shirt or cheesecloth that has been laundered to remove the sizing.

DUST OFTEN to remove everyday abrasive particles from wood surfaces.

CONSIDER CLEANING with a mild nonalkaline soap and water. Use the suds in a damp sponge or cloth, but be sure to pre-test the solution on an out-ofsight section to make sure it doesn’t damage the finish. Dry immediately with a soft cloth and buff lightly, following the grain.

DON’T WAX or use any polish that contains any silicones! Catalyzed heat and moisture resistant finishes don’t need additional polish, but if you want to use a polish we recommend Guardsman Furniture Polish.

Care of Solid Wood Furniture

If cared for properly your solid hardwood furniture can give you a lifetime of service and beauty. Here are several care tips that will enhance your solid hardwood furniture investment:

• Place your furniture away from radiators, fireplaces, and heating ducts.

• Position furniture out of direct sunlight or adjust blinds to avoid hour after hour of direct sunlight.

• Control humidity to 40%–45%. In winter use a humidifier, in summer use a dehumidifier or air conditioner.

• Use padding under all sharp, hot, or cold objects.

• Avoid using nail polish remover, alcohol, and other solvents near or on furniture.

Real or Imitation?

Not sure if you’re buying solid hardwood or a chip imitation? A check point is the glue joints. Put your finger on a glue joint and trace it along the top of the surface, over the edge, and to the underside. If the line disappears its probably an imitation. Solid hardwood joints on the other hand can be traced across the top, the side and the underside.
