1752 Hudson Bridge Road, Suite 102 Stockbridge, GA 30281
Fancy That Fine Jewelry has been a mainstay in the Henry County business community since 1992. Nestled between a Mexican restaurant and a bustling Kroger, Fancy That is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., off I-75 on Hudson Bridge Road, one of the busiest corridors in Stockbridge, GA. Showcasing luxury fine jewelry collections and offering custom designs as well as on-site craftsmanship and jewelry repairs, Fancy That is a friendly alternative for Henry County patrons who value purchasing their jewelry from a trusted and familiar jeweler. With two part-time sales representatives and an on-site jewelry craftsman, sole proprietor and a “Graduate Diamond” gemologist, Denise Swanson has successfully carved her niche in the jewelry industry by ensuring each customer’s buying experience is much more than a transaction. “Our customers are made to feel like family,” Denise replies with conviction when asked the secret to her success and longevity in the business.
Denise fell in love with Henry County long before she opened Fancy That. From her home in Cobb County, she first started making the journey from the other side of metropolitan Atlanta to Stockbridge on only one day out of week, on Sundays, to attend church. She established strong ties and a network of friends through her church, of whom many are in her circle of friends and customers to this day. It was another lifelong friend and professional mentor who encouraged Denise to open her jewelry store in Henry County. “I worked for him in his jewelry store in Cobb County,” Denise explains. “He was very encouraging and supportive when I told him I wanted to open a jewelry store – as long as I didn’t open it in Cobb County.”
As passionate as she is about Fancy That, Denise has another mission in her life that is just as fulfilling. She is the caregiver of her parents, both octogenarians who reside with her in Cobb County more than 50 miles

from her jewelry store. It’s a trek she’s made almost daily for over 27 years and one that she makes with no complaints. “As a caregiver, you do what you have to do. My parents are my buddies,” she offers with a smile. “And I’m so thankful to have them with me.” Denise arises at 3:30 a.m. to prepare necessities for her parents before embarking on the one hour, plus or minus, drive to work in Henry County. By 9:00 a.m., she arrives at the jewelry shop and tackles backoffice work needed prior to opening at ten. At 10:00 a.m., on any given day, a repeat customer is waiting at the door.
Like many retail business owners, Denise’s time is sparse for daytime activities away from the jewelry store. But she keeps informed about important matters in the Henry County business community through the monthly HCCC newsletter which is mailed to members as an insert in the Henry Herald newspaper on the last Wednesday in the month. “The Chamber has always been very supportive of Fancy That. Sending referrals and keeping me in the loop on matters that impact the business community,” said Denise.
