MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR CHELSEA The dates to remember…

Doing nothing is not an option…

Your Chelsea has an annual renewal with benefits effective from 1 October each year. An enrolment window will be opened in August each year to allow you to select your options for the following benefits year. The window will remain open for a reasonable period and you will be provided with advance notice of the enrolment dates.

Do not rely on iChoose defaulting to any existing benefits you may have. There is a genuine necessity to actively make your selections and reselect your existing benefits if you wish them to continue.

Benefits cannot be selected outside of the annual enrolment window unless you join Chelsea FC during the year. The limits… You may use your salary to select and pay for benefits. However, by law, you are not allowed to reduce your salary below the National Minimum Wage. Your selections may have an impact on your ability to claim state benefits. Your Chelsea will not allow you to reduce your salary below the Lower Earnings Limit for National Insurance Contributions. If, after making your selections you fall below this threshold, you will be asked to revisit your selections. Obtaining professional advice… Chelsea FC is unable to give advice on what benefits you should select. During the enrolment period, access to the benefit providers will be available for further information. If you should require professional advice regarding Your Chelsea, or the benefits and options available to you, please contact the adviser for Your Chelsea, Helm Godfrey. 4

FURTHER INFORMATION

GETTING STARTED Step 1 Register for iChoose

Part-time workers

iChoose may be accessed via the Chelsea FC Intranet.

If you work part-time, the value of salary related benefits, such as pension contributions and core risk benefits, will be based on your pro-rated salary which reflects your reduced hours. You will be able to select non-salary related benefits under the same conditions as a full-time employee.

Your registration submission will be validated and you will then receive confirmation by email to complete the login.

Step 2 Login to iChoose Step 3 View the benefits available Explore the features and conditions of each benefit and select the level of benefit which suits your needs and add this to your basket.

Step 4 Make your selections By clicking on the shopping trolley, you will be able to select the benefits you require for the next year.

Step 5 Add dependants If you wish to select benefits which also include your dependants, e.g. your partner and children, please ensure you have provided their details as required.

Step 6 Submit your selections Once you are happy with your selections, you must proceed to checkout. Confirmation of your selections will be sent to you on completion of validation at the end of the enrolment period. 5

New joiners If you join Chelsea FC during the benefits year, you will be eligible to join Your Chelsea. You will be able to enrol and make your benefit selections through iChoose after you have successfully completed your probationary period, but no earlier than three months after commencement of employment. Some benefits are only available during the annual enrolment period (for example, health assessments and cycle to work). Subject to meeting the policy terms and conditions, you will be covered from the date that you complete the eligibility criteria for the core risk benefits as it applies to you. Human Resources at Stamford Bridge will be able to confirm your entitlement. Leaving service If you leave Chelsea FC having selected benefits, it will be confirmed to you, in advance of your last day of service, the date to which those benefits are maintained. Reductions to pay during your notice period will be made according to your choices and the balance of any premiums due, subject to the individual benefit rules. In some instances, it may be possible to arrange ongoing cover. Please discuss this with Helm Godfrey before you leave Chelsea FC.

FURTHER INFORMATION

GETTING STARTED Your Chelsea offers savings in income tax and/or National Insurance Contributions (NIC) Your Chelsea has been designed to maximise the savings in income tax and NIC for you through a process known as ‘salary sacrifice’. Salary sacrifice is an agreement between an employee and their employer where the employee agrees to give up some of their ‘cash benefit’, i.e. salary, in return for a ‘non-cash benefit’. As salary sacrifice reduces your gross salary, you will not have to pay income tax nor NIC on the value of certain benefits selected. HM Revenue & Customs allows some of the benefits to be free of income tax, whereas others will be taxed as a P11D ‘taxable benefit in kind’ so are income tax neutral, but you will still save NIC on the value of these benefits. The treatment of Your Chelsea benefits for income tax and NIC is based on our understanding of the current tax situation, which may change from time to time. You will not be able to change Your Chelsea benefits during the year if the treatment of income tax and NIC changes. The table shows whether there is a saving in income tax and NIC generated by the various Your Chelsea benefits.

YOUR LIFESTYLE BENEFITS Childcare Vouchers Your Chelsea offers access to a Childcare Voucher Scheme to help meet the cost of childcare arrangements. What does this benefit provide? Employees who have been in receipt of childcare vouchers through Your Chelsea since before April 2011 may select between £20 and the current statutory limit of £243 per month, providing a valuable saving in the cost of childcare arrangements. For example, in accordance with the maximum childcare voucher of £243 per month:

A basic rate income tax payer could save £78 per month (£933 per annum)

A higher rate income tax payer could save £102 per month (£1,225 per annum). Employees who start to receive childcare vouchers after 6 April 2011 may be restricted in the amount of vouchers they may receive depending on whether they are a basic, higher or additional rate income tax payer. Full details of these restrictions can be found on the iChoose website. Limitations Childcare vouchers can be used for most forms of childcare including nurseries, childminders, nannies, before and after school clubs, holiday clubs, crèches and most play schemes. The childcare

provider will need to be registered and approved. The vouchers are available for the care of children up to 1 September following the child’s 15th birthday, or 16th birthday if the child is disabled. Cost of this benefit The cost of the vouchers would be deducted from your gross salary and you would not have to pay income tax or National Insurance Contributions on the value of the vouchers, therefore providing a significant saving as set out above. What does this benefit provide? You can elect to receive either an Evans or Halfords voucher for an amount between £100 and £1,000. The voucher can then be used to purchase a bicycle and/or safety equipment. Chelsea FC buys the bicycle and safety equipment and makes them available to you for a 12 month period in return for the cost of the voucher, which would be deducted from you by salary sacrifice. At the end of the hire period, the bicycle and safety equipment may be sold to you at a nominal ex-rental cost in line with HMRC guidelines, reflecting the second hand market value of the bicycle and safety equipment at the date of sale. The cost of the voucher would be deducted from your gross salary over a 12 month period and you would not have to pay income tax or National Insurance Contributions on the value of the voucher, therefore providing a significant saving: Voucher Value

The cost of personal accident insurance through Your Chelsea will typically be cheaper for you than making your own individual arrangements elsewhere. The premium for the benefit that you select would be deducted from you through salary sacrifice and would therefore provide you with a saving in National Insurance Contributions, which would further reduce the cost of the benefit. Contact Organisation Howden Telephone 020 7133 1255 Email yourchelsea@howdengroup.com Detailed information on this benefit is available on the iChoose website.

Child

Please note the definition of ‘child’ varies according to benefit and policy cover. Generally, the definition is for an unmarried child under the age of 18, or if that child is in full time education, under the age of 21. Some benefits may include step children and some may not. Risk benefits

This is a term for insurance benefits provide under Your Chelsea including Life Assurance, Personal Accident Insurance and Critical Illness Insurance.

Salary sacrifice

A salary sacrifice happens when you give up the right to receive part of your cash benefit, i.e. salary, in return for the provision of a non-cash benefit of equal or greater value from Chelsea FC.

Spouse or partner

This is defined as a person that you live with in a partner relationship, are married to, or with whom you have a civil partnership.

Total reward

The reference salary is a fixed salary level not affected by any salary sacrifice. Reference salary will be used for calculating all salary related benefits.

The total reward is the sum of your reference salary plus the sum of any contributions paid by Chelsea FC towards your benefits.

For example, if you sacrifice £500 for a benefit and your current reference salary is £20,000, your reference salary will be £20,000 and ‘Your Chelsea’ salary will be £19,500.

This is your post-sacrifice salary and under your salary sacrifice scheme, becomes variable dependent upon your choices. Your entitlement to state benefits will be based upon this salary.
