Quality At Helical, we strive for quality in everything that we do, especially in our production process. We begin by using the highest quality carbide available. Our tools are then CNC ground using the latest equipment available and go through a rigorous inspection process before they leave our manufacturing facility in Gorham, Maine. To ensure that they meet our stringent quality standards, all tools are inspected using the latest in optical and laser touch-free inspection equipment. Our tools are then laser etched (part numbers and lot numbers) for traceability purposes.

Tool Modification Program Special tool requirements can be accommodated by modifying an “off-theshelf” product. Our engineering department will evaluate each modification request to ensure that it has a positive effect on tool performance; otherwise, it will be quoted as a full special. Tool Reconditioning

Tool Reconditioning Program Our tools provide a combination of maximum performance and extended life expectancy. Therefore, we provide a factory reconditioning service that assures the repeatability that our customers need and have come to expect. How do we do this? The tools are reground on the same “State-of-the-Art” CNC equipment as originally manufactured. Tools are sent through a vigorous “before & after” coating inspection process. Although we don’t have our competitors’ tool specifications, we take special care and concern to accommodate your reconditioning requests. Climb Milling In climb milling, the cutter is revolving in the same direction as the table feed. The teeth meet the workpiece at maximum chip thickness, producing the thickest part of the chip first.
