NEWBRIDGE ON THE CHARLES
Living Your Best Life
Define your life—and live it fully Since opening in 2009, NewBridge on the Charles has set a new standard in senior living. Created by Hebrew SeniorLife, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School and a leading nonprofit senior care and research organization with more than a century of experience, NewBridge provides a remarkable lifestyle for active, independent seniors accustomed to the best that life has to offer. Set on 162 acres of pristine green fields and woods by the historic Charles River, NewBridge offers the total package: a vibrant community of interesting 2
people, broad living options, amazing amenities, premier cultural and educational programming, and exceptional health care. You get all the pleasures of luxury living—and none of the responsibilities of owning a home. At NewBridge, you will experience your best life—one that you define yourself. Your life here will be full of rich experiences as you pursue your passions and focus on what matters most to you.
It’s all here Each day at NewBridge, you will be steps away from performances by professional singers and musicians, visits from notable authors and artists, and lectures and presentations by respected historians and scientists. Many of our residents enjoy participating in our wide range of multigenerational programs with students from The Rashi School, the independent K-8 school which shares our campus, as well as many other area schools and universities. Whatever you like to do, you will be able to do it here. You can hike, canoe, catch a movie, enjoy our indoor pool and outdoor tennis court, enroll in courses, participate in art classes and evidence-based fitness programs, dine in any of our four on-campus restaurants, take group trips to area attractions, peruse the thousands of volumes in our well-stocked library, and much more.
We also offer the convenience of an onsite medical staff—most of whom are affiliated with Harvard Medical School—including a geriatrician as well as specialists in podiatry, audiology, and psychiatry, so you can receive worldclass care without having to make that drive into the city. In the event you need post-acute care, you can stay on campus at our own rehab center until you’re ready to return to your home. If your needs evolve, we offer a full continuum of care including assisted living, memory care, and long-term chronic care. And we specialize in meeting the needs of couples who may require differing supports in order to live their best lives together.

A stunning and stimulating community At NewBridge, you will join a community of active and accomplished seniors like yourself who are intellectually curious, socially engaging, and civic-minded. With so many programs and special events going on, you will find it easy to socialize and make new friends here. All the same, everyone enjoys having private time and you can choose to enjoy quiet moments for reading, walking, or navigating the Charles River whenever you wish. In terms of location, NewBridge is second to none. Easily accessible from Boston (just 10 miles away) and the western suburbs, we occupy a magnificent 162-acre campus—much of it a protected nature preserve— 6
with majestic trees, two miles of well-marked walking trails, lush gardens and meadows, and a launch into the Charles River for canoes and kayaks. Inside, our resort-like buildings feature walls adorned by more than 1,000 original works of contemporary art, as well as colorful decor with elegant furniture and finishes. Our spacious, modern design brings the outdoors in with large windows offering views that are stunning every season of the year. And of course, you get all this luxury with no responsibility for upkeep and maintenance, freeing you to focus your time and energy on doing the things you love.
Living well is a choice—and the choice is yours Our independent living residences offer 27 different floor plans encompassing an assortment of apartments, cottages, and villas.
APARTMENTS With 182 residences, apartment living is the most popular option at NewBridge. We offer one- and two-bedroom apartments, many of which have dens. Apartments feature spacious living areas, gourmet kitchens, nine-foot ceilings, and windows providing natural light and beautiful views; some also have screened-in porches and fireplaces. Located within our community center and two adjoining buildings, all apartments include access to underground parking spaces and storage units.
COTTAGES Our 50 single-home cottages offer the attraction of private home living while keeping you close to NewBridge’s rich selection of programs, amenities, and activities. All cottages feature a private one- or two-car garage, as well as a clubhouse, tennis court, and putting green. The cottages are within walking distance to the community center, though transportation is available if you prefer.
VILLAS Our 24 two-bedroom villa residences are situated in a quiet, private setting overlooking gardens and woods. Each villa is a corner residence to allow for plenty of light and features spacious interiors with high ceilings, large windows, cozy living areas, porches, fireplaces, and underground parking.
