3D -PRINTIN G VASES
Each vase was designed in a three-dimensional design program, Rhinoceros 3D. After the completion of these designs, each vase was exported as an individual STL (.stl, “stereolithography”) file to be submitted for printing. The vases were printed at the Hudson Valley Advanced Manufacturing Center (HVAMC) on Makerbot Replicator 2X (The Mini and The Midi) and the Makerbot Replicator Z18 (the Maxi) . The main difference between these machines is the size of their printing bed and height, and therefore due to it’s height, The Maxi had to be printed on the Z18.
