All right, what you just heard are a few lines quoted from one of my students’ blog entries. She had kept her blog private until she told me the story. The incident took place in a physical class. A boy in her class accidentally touched her chest when catching a basketball. And it’s not funny at all when she is already in 9th grade.

Dear diary, oh my god, I’m gonna die. Why did he touch me like that? I hate that bastard. Why me? I’ll get pregnant and my parents will kill me.

The issue I’m trying to discuss here is sex education at schools in Vietnam. Let’s imagine how differently she would have behaved if only she had been taught about sex at school earlier. In a research on teaching and learning about sex in Vietnam that I and a group of students carried out in 2008, It did not come as a surprise that only 25% of respondents reported that sex education was included in their curriculum at school. The remaining 75% replied that they had never been taught about sex. Moreover, amongst these 25%, most of them said their school-based sex education is not comprehensive. This feedback can be the result of 2 main factors: unsuitable curriculum and culture barrier.

4

The biggest difficulty for students in acquiring sex education. The content of sex education curriculum is increasingly becoming unavailable and inadequate. Many school systems completely omit sex education from their curricula and others attempt to avert controversy by allowing only discussions of safe and familiar topics, such as sexual orientation or basics of reproduction. But the most effective way of avoiding unintended pregnancies and HIV –that is using condoms, was not mentioned at all. This factor leads us back to the disturbing figure of 1.4 million annual abortions in Vietnam. Should we be proud of this figure which has made Vietnam have one of the world’s highest abortion rates? The answer is no, totally not.

Besides the unsuitable curriculum, the culture barrier is also a drawback of serious concern. Sex is taboo for public discussions in many Asian countries and Vietnam is not an exception. A large number of Vietnamese elderly claim that sex education could promote sexual activities. That partially has a detrimental influence on the youngsters, especially teenagers. They might feel shy and uncomfortable exchanging information about sex in public places including schools. After listing some possible reasons, I strongly believe Vietnamese schools should put into practice some improvements in terms of sex curricula and teaching strategies. More practical issues should be added such as the use of condoms and the resistance to peer pressure to have sexual intercourse. In addition, teachers need to join in training courses in order to gain more knowledge and skills. Only then will they be more likely to be open-minded and willing to deal with all students’ questions. Teaching equipment and tools such as illustrations or videos, plastic

parts of human body, are suggested to be the means to support the theoretical lessons. Personally, I’d take it as a good sign if someday we could see a few cucumbers in sex education courses. I think vivid lessons will be more interesting and understandable for students rather than simply dry literary textbooks.

Last but not least, I wanna stress on the importance of sex education. If we deny its influence towards our teenagers, we are, in a sense, sheltering them from harsh realities they are bound to encounter. As the saying goes “Bring grist to somebody’s mill”. But this time, we all should bring grist to teenagers’ mill with a relevant purpose, and that is helping them to find the right way.

Nowadays Mother’s Day has become one of the biggest events in the world. Many countries celebrate this special event and each nation does it in a different way. Regardless variations among those countries, the history of the Mother’s Day remains the same. It originated from England in the 17th century, and falls on the fourth Sunday of March. On this day, every workers in England could come back home to visit their moms. They used to bring a lot of presents – which were called “cakes for mothers” such as fruit cake (Simnel), grain gruel (Furmety) etc. and they would use them for the dinner This traditional had been forgotten for a long time before it was restored after the 2nd World War. The Americans and people of some countries such as Denmark, Finland, Italy, Turkey, Australia and Belgium honour the motherhood and their mothers on a celebration on the second Sunday of May. In Spain, Mother’s day is on December 8th , and on this day, the Spanish honour not only mothers in a family but also Mary – Jesus’s mother. e v i s o l p If you want to express your love and your gratitude to your mom on that day, I have some suggestions for you. If you are living far from home, come and visit your mom as you can. By doing this, she will know that you always miss and love them .

Lastly, there are no reasons why you should not keep your spirit of Mother’s Day on the others day of the year. Sometime we are too busy to see what is happening in our family or how our moms are. Hence, you should give her a full time to prove that how much we love her as often as you can. Also, being a child of your mother, you should be strong, be happy and be good. That will be a wonderful present for any mother in the world because they love you and they always want you to be happy in every aspect of life . Cheers for Mothers.

You can buy or make your own postcard and write down the best and the most heartfelt wishes for your mothers If you’re a girl, you can buy a movie ticket and enjoy a night with your mother, then she will feel very happy for that. If you’re a boy, on that day, you can come home early, cook a delicious meal for your family, wash all dishes or do the housework which your mom has done on the other days in all her life. . You will be surprised to know how happy she is because of your actions

A hang or a freeze happens to many Windows users at times. There are several reasons that can cause a computer to hang and generally, a computer freezes due to its hardware and software. In this issue, we only discuss about the entire system hung due to application software. How can we close applications if they cannot be closed as usual? Simple! We can always use “Windows Task Manager” (WTM) by pressing keys “Ctrl + Alt + Delete” (with Windows XP or last Windows versions) or “Ctrl + Shift + Esc” (with Windows Vista). The application (WTM) of Windows operating system appears after we press all the right keys. We have 2 ways to close programs by WTM.

First method : Choose “Applications” tab to see the program in error. Next, choose the programs which we want to close. At last, click on “End Task” to close them (P.1). If the first way still cannot solve the problem, we would think of trying the second method. Most situations of software hang can be solved by second way however, it will close all programs instead of closing a application in error.

Second method : Choose “Processes” tab. Then, search “explorer.exe” in the window of WTM (or press “E” to find faster) and choose it (P.2). Then, click on “End Process” to close all programs.

9

At this time, the whole computer screen becomes static because no program is running (only WTM). Next, click on “File” menu and choose “New Task (Run…)”. A new small window appears. Finally, type “explorer.exe” and click “OK” button (P.3).

Do you see a sun there Which shines on the whole road? There do you miss me The girl with a sobbing heart?

In conclusion, as technology has considerably developed, it might be frustrating to bump into situations like a hang or a freeze of computers. Of course it could get worse if you were not a computer geek. However, do you not freak out yet because now, you know two ways to get away from ‘the sudden system hang’. As mentioned, there are two most popular methods to fix this problem and yes, you can do it easily. Choosing which methods to use all depends on the current situations of your computers. If in the worse case, do not forget that you can always ‘Reset’ or ‘Turn on/off’ to solve the problem. Having said that, it is strongly recommended that you should try one of the methods above first. Good luck!

I miss a sun far away Where there is a sunny road. You weren’t beside me but I was not afraid of Wandering on the sunny road ‘Cause I look forward to a day When you walk with me on a sunny one.

My hand fondled blades of grass wet in dew, Long you come and hold this lonely hand And put on it a missing kiss For my heart not to be cold For me to know that is love.

There was a straight road in front of me But I still looked at your place. Why do I always wait for you? Is that love or just a desire? Why don’t I know? Please help me answer this question For my heart not to be unpleasant anymore. I was not sad when you didn’t come ‘Cause the sun always darted Its beam to my heart. Do you see the sun there? A reporter asked, "Sir, What is the secret of your success?" The company president said, "Two words." "And, sir, what are they?" "Right decisions," explained the company president. "And how do you make right decisions?" "One word." "And, sir, what is that?" "Experience." "And how do you get experience?" "Two words." "And, sir, what are they?" "Wrong decisions."

Immediately A man goes to his doctor and says, "Doc, I've got a terrible problem. I'm always forgetting things. My thoughts can be very important, but no matter how hard I try, I just keep forgetting them." "That could be very serious," replied the doctor. "How long have you had this problem?" I took my first step On that black and white kitchen floor I sometimes wonder if that house Is even there, anymore I had my first glimpse of love When I was five I watched two people split apart But still the three of us survived I've seen the best I've seen the worst I wouldn't change what I've been through I've touched the sky I've hit the wall [CHORUS]

On my way here Where I am now I've learned to fly I have to want to leave the ground I've fallen hard But I've been loved And in the end it all works out My faith has conquered fear On my way here.

My address has changed Almost every year I've found that standing still Can quickly make a lifetime disappear I'd rather try and fail A thousand times denied At least, whenever you feel pain It lets you know that you're alive I've been a fool I've been afraid Yeah, I've been loved I've been lied to I've been wrong And I've been right I stood up when I had to [CHORUS] No guarantees I believed that I would find An open door or a light To lead me to the other side I guess that is why
