HEART OF LOS ANGELES (HOLA) HONORS SELENA GOMEZ AND THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF LOS ANGELES Los Angeles, CA (October 5, 2015) – On Tuesday, November 10, 2015, Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) will host their annual gala “Holiday of the Heart” when they will pay tribute to Selena Gomez and The Junior League of Los Angeles for their generous efforts. Ushering in the holiday season, over 500 esteemed attendees will enjoy a seated dinner at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel while recognizing those who support HOLA in its mission. While honoring HOLA’s the Hero of the Heart Award to Selena Gomez and Heart of LA Award to Junior League of Los Angeles (JLLA), the evening will also include music and entertainment. HOLA students grew most fond of actress, singer and fashion designer Selena Gomez last spring when she spent an afternoon helping in the visual arts’ studio. As UNICEF’s youngest Goodwill Ambassador, it s the celebrity’s continuing philanthropic commitment, strong work ethic, confidence and graciousness that makes her an exemplary Hero of the Heart. Heart of LA recipienttobe, the JLLA has provided volunteers and workshops for six years for HOLA high school seniors. The legacy of their endeavor “HOLA Project” lives on through, what are now, the permanent programs “College Access” and “College Success” that aim to support soontobe college students and college students to gain the tools needed for success. JUNIOR LEAGUE OF LOS ANGELES (JLLA) : Established in 1926, the Junior League of Los Angeles (JLLA) has been the driving force behind the kinds of initiatives and institutions that make our community a healthier, more vital place to live. Throughout its history, JLLA has developed, supported and launched more than 100 projects into the community making a measurable, positive impact on the welfare of greater Los Angeles children and their families. More than 2,500 kids were impacted by JLLA programs during its 20122013 year alone. The Junior League of Los Angeles is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit volunteer organization, and is a member of the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI). The JLLA is now one of over 293 Junior Leagues throughout the United States, Mexico, Canada, and Great Britain. AJLI’s member leagues encompass over 155,000 members worldwide. HEART OF LOS ANGELES (HOLA) : From what started 26 years ago with just a handful of kids in a dilapidated gym, HOLA now serves over 2,300 youth ages 624, on a fourbuilding campus in the Rampart District. Located in and around Lafayette Park, HOLA is a home away from home for thousands of kids and unique in the quality of instruction and individual attention it provides. Students can rely on support from HOLA’s professional staff and highly talented volunteers who make up an array of experts including artists, executives, chefs, athletes, engineers and counselors who commit themselves to providing enriched programs of the highest quality, giving kids the best chance to become successful in life.
