FUNDRAISING The latest news and information on our fundraising efforts, and yours!
Hello from Cath It’s been a busy few months in the fundraising department! Stories of courage and determination from the Bike 4 Bike crew, and ladies swapping clothes at the Friends SWISH event! And it was lovely to meet everyone at the celebration evening, and see everyone having such fun! Well done to all the Wolf Pack team, who cycled an amazing 52 miles in the end, from Stratford to the Wolves Stadium. Thanks to the Percy Bilton Charity and Wheels 4 Good whose grants paid for two trikes, specially built by Pashley! Thanks also to Fred, whose family kindly donated the third trike to the fleet! Stratford U3A also donated £50 to the cause thanks to the sale of cards. And Shoe Med are currently running a competition to design a shoe in their shop, with proceeds coming to the cause. The current total stands at - £2, 947. To top it all off, Morrisons are donating £1,500 towards the purchase of a hand cycle, we are picking the cheque up! We will still have some money left, and would really like to buy a side by side bike, so keep your eyes peeled for any ebay bargains!
Case Study: Brian
Brian likes to come along to Pathway because they do a lot of ‘outdoorsy’ activities. He loves to walk around the estate, at Alscot, and in the spring time he likes to look out for the lambs. He particularly enjoys cycling, and is delighted to be able to use the new bikes- ‘they’re brilliant!’ He also volunteers on a Thursday at Mary Arden’s Farm, which he loves. His favourite Pathway activity is the cooking club in which he enjoys making shepherd’s pie. We were delighted to be part of The Bell at Alderminster’s bonfire and firework extravaganza, which was a great night, with fantastic fireworks. Thanks to everyone’s support, we raised £350 through our range of glowing items, sweets and toffee apples! Our thanks go to the Alscot estate for the opportunity, and to the Friends, Yvonne Ferguson and Gary Arnold who helped out.
GET INVOLVED There are lots of ways you can support us
Last few tickets available for our Hollywood Glamour Ball Friday 20th November 2015- hurry, as they’re selling fast! Tickets are £50.00 each. This includes a red carpet reception with welcome drink and live music from Echoes, three course dinner, live music and disco from the excellent Johnny Zephyr duo, goodie bag, auction and raffle. The proceedings will be led by professional toast master and member of the magic circle Eugene Matthias. It’s going to be a lovely evening, which we hope will raise lots of money to provide extra trips and activities for our customers. If you would like tickets, please click here to download the form and return to Cath Errington. Can’t attend? You can still support our fundraising efforts - You can have your very own star on our Hollywood ‘Walk of Fame’. For a minimum of a £10.00 donation, you can buy a star, and personally name it. You could have one in your name, or a family name or just simply, ‘Henry’s Star!’ Each star will be displayed on the night, and then we will post it to you after the event, so they can be proudly put up at their home. To be part of it, either click here to make a donation on our special JustGiving page, and write the name to be put on the star in the message box, or send a cheque to Cath Errington at Head Office, and write down the wording. Or donate a raffle prize - all welcome! Our thanks go to Mr and Mrs Rousell, Mr and Mrs Strophair, Mr and Mrs Harriman, Mr and Mrs T Gaymond, and Jane Marsh who have already bought stars! Well done to Will Carr who was the lucky person pulled out of the hat for our London Marathon Place. Will works for Wright Hassall, and heard about the place through his partner Antonia Sandford, who was an intern at the time. He is hoping to raise £1,500 for us, so more details on how you can support will be coming soon! Well done to the Friends who ran a very successful SWISH event in October, raising an incredible £1,100 for the charity. They have now raised more than £6,000 since they set up two years ago, which is incredible! They are currently funding a camera, some garden veg beds, tickets for a performance and some buoyancy swim aids, which are all great for our customers, so our thanks go to them.

We are also delighted to have a National Grid corporate team come and help us with an excellent Christmas party on 11th December- all welcome- it should be great! A story of determination- new table and chairs at Ash Grove, thanks to Ella Owens who climbed Snowdon last year! She is only 15! Here’s her story. Snowdon was one of the biggest challenges I have ever had to face, but the whole five and a half hours was most definitely worth it. The reason i decided to do the walk was because my six year old cousin Jemma is Down Syndrome and she inspired me to organise and prepare for the tough climb. I wanted to do this because it would make me feel happy knowing that people like Jemma would have nice, enjoyable things to use. My personal goal was to reach £150 but to have £550 was absolutely outstanding and I was so proud of us for accomplishing the event. The best part of the walk was reaching the top of the mountain with everyone else by my side. I just want to thank my family for being there for me and helping me achieve this event and especially Mencap Heart of England for allowing to do this and spending the donation on such a lovely thing.
THANK YOU To all the organisations and friends who have supported us so far!
