Back to School with a Tooth-Healthy Lunch School is back in session, and Everglades Pediatric Dentistry wants to help you make smart lunchbox choices. A balanced diet helps your child build a healthy body - and that includes strong teeth and gums! Fruits and veggies like carrots, strawberries, apples, and cucumbers are high in vitamins A and C, useful for building tooth enamel and slowing collagen breakdown Plus, they scrub teeth in between brushing! Pack water instead of juice boxes. Water helps wash away food particles and reduces acid buildup. Cheese, milk, and low-sugar yogurts are excellent choices to add more calcium to your child’s diet. Calcium is an essential mineral for strong teeth. Lean meats, like turkey, chicken, and fish, are protein-packed and great for overall health. Avoid sticky foods like gummy snacks and foods with added sugar which can cause tooth decay.
