Our  Riches  in  Christ   A  Devotion  in  Ephesians  Chapter  1   Margaret  Lepke

Our Riches in Christ n Christ...What does that really mean? Have you ever considered the real meaning of being in Christ? The first chapter of Paul's letter to the Ephesians encourages us to understand the riches we have been given if we belong to the Son of God. You may like to read it and count the number of times you find the words “in Christ” or similar; you will be utterly amazed. My Bible is highlighted and marked on almost every page from years of study, but despite my other markings in this particular chapter, the red highlights of “in Him” still stick out like beacons of light. Some people think that writing in a Bible is akin to desecration, but I don't believe that. God wants us to know His Word well, understand it, remember it, use it and work with it. And being a visual person, I can't do that unless I mark it and write notes in the margins of things that I have found and want to remember (unfortunately, I don't have the memory of an elephant). By the way, soft crayons work better than highlighters because they don’t show through the page. No matter how you may treat your Bible, I would like to encourage you to somehow highlight the many instances of “in Christ” and similar wording you find in the first chapter of Ephesians. Do this throughout the whole chapter, then count and be surprised. And finally, take the time to write out a list of benefits that flow to you because of Him who died for you. It's amazing - this portion of Scripture reveals all of the wonderful treasures imparted to those who have been born of God and have been placed in Christ. We have such an amazing heritage! e
