LastMile Walk part way to work

Physical

The Last Mile Challenge invites you to walk part way to work 15 out of the next 30 days. Most of us don’t live within walking distance to work, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t walk part of the way there. If you drive to work, park a few blocks away—or at the far end of the parking lot. If you take public transportation, consider getting off at an earlier stop. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Plan ahead so you leave home early enough to allow time for an enjoyable walk. The exact amount of walking that you add to your commute is up to you. Walking a portion of the way to work is a simple way to add some exercise to your day—and to reap the multiple benefits it has to offer. Walking can ease joint pain, strengthen bones and muscles, boost immune function, help prevent cancer and heart disease, and keep you from gaining weight. When you walk, it gives you downtime to think and let go of stress. Walking relaxes your mind and can lighten your mood. Walking can also help you sleep better at night. Make walking part of your commute!
