How to wash your hair

Washing your hair seems like a fairly basic thing to do, but here are a few pointers to get the best out of your crowning glory.

Before applying your shampoo, ensure your hair is fully wet so your cuticles are open and ready for a good clean. Then, drop a fair amount of shampoo into your palms first and then lather. Massage well into the scalp to loosen up any product build up, dirt and dead skin cells. Rinse thoroughly to ensure no product is left behind.

Remember not to shampoo with hot water. This may feel nice, but it strips your hair of its natural oils, especially if the temperature is too high. This will leave your hair with no natural, valuable oil and leave it looking dry and brittle. Hot water dries your scalp, which can lead to itchiness and dandruff. When conditioning your hair, start with the ends and condition your way up so your tips have more time to soak up the moisture they need.
