Community Saratoga Integrative Medicine Education Network Upcoming Programs The Saratoga Integrative Medicine Education Network, or SIMEN, has two upcoming programs scheduled. Both will occur at the Saratoga Springs Public Library, 49 Henry St., in the Community Room, and are free and open to the public. The first program occurs on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 6:30 pm and is entitled, “The Process of Awakening: Self-Discovery, Surrender and the Roll of Thunder.” Self-discovery is the ultimate goal of spiritual seekers and must remain at the forefront for any lasting shift to occur. What comes after the shift is a "process of awakening." During this process, the egoic structure is fully destroyed, which allows the True Self to emerge and remain as the uninterrupted presence. This transformation is nothing like what we expect and often the very thing that led to the moment of awakening disappears and one is left without direction. Here no methods will offer any assistance and the only thing that helps this process is fully surrendering. Presenter Matt Goodemote will point to discovering your true nature, and how to emerge through the "process of awakening." The second program occurs on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 6:30 pm, and is entitled “Hungry for Change,” and is a free movie screening of the award winning film. This documentary interviews experts in the health, food, nutrition and culinary fields. Topics include: how we get hooked by the food and diet industry without realizing it (and why fad diets will never work); causes of sugar cravings; the truth about processed, fats, and convenience foods; the reason why diet soda is so addicting; how to leverage the power of your mind for you; juicing; and the importance of selfcare and self-love After the program, local Registered Dietitian and Yoga Instructor Pamela Malo will facilitate a discussion.
