ACQUA LI NA FASHION Ta ke a behind-the-scenes look at Acqua lina’s reva mped Spa Boutique w ith the shop’s curator, Jacqueline Shif f. Words - Samantha Brooks
How would you describe the range of inventory and brands at the boutique? In today’s world, you can go online and find any brand you want. What sets us apart is that we purchase things with a story. For instance, we’ll buy a bikini from one brand, then a cover-up from another brand that goes along with it. It’s styled and easy to sort through. You’ll find swim shorts for a man, and then coordinating ones for his kids. Sure, we have things like basic white T-shirts, but it’s not just about basics. Not only will you find things here like sweat suits, you will find the best sweat suits ever here. What is the shopping experience like at Acqualina’s Spa Boutique? Some of my fondest childhood memories of traveling are of shopping in the hotel boutique. It’s part of the travel experience to get that holiday souvenir or great holiday look. In our case, we’re located right by the spa, so it’s tranquil and not intimidating. It’s not your typical department store experience. The boutique is merchandized so that if you don’t want to ask for help, you can work it out yourself. There are lots of options, and everything is coordinated — not sorted by designer or just divided with bikinis in one section, pants in another… it’s all arranged so that it’s sorted together for looks. If you do want to ask for help, we aren’t pushy, and we’re not going to put you in a look that isn’t f lattering just because it’s on trend or we have it in stock. We also have personal shopping services where we can bring the store to your room. What are some of the more unique offerings? The store is small, and the stock moves frequently. We don’t buy a lot of quantity of the same thing, because the store is for our residents and guests and we won’t want everyone walking around in the same thing. We like to think we speak to a range of clients and needs. For instance, if you’re in town and headed to a friend’s house for a dinner party, we might suggest a hostess gift of a Fornasetti candle. If you’re here on a family trip, we have a lot of looks that coordinate. It’s not overly matchy, but everyone will end up looking like they go together. Often, people are so pleased that they want to take a family portrait, so we’ll get them a photographer to do a shoot. We’ll also put together gift baskets or beach bags filled with snorkels, goggles and toys. It goes beyond just bikinis and cover-ups here.

“I consider Sophia a great — a good actress and a great personality. Because she is a Neopolitan. Like me. We are the same people, the same origin. And we feel together the same. Yes, for me, I am very happy when I work with Sophia.” – Italian director Vittorio De Sica
A close personal friend of the Trumps, Loren was enlisted as part of the development team that made sure Acqualina possessed the look and feel of Italy’s famous relaxed-yet-chic Italian Riviera. “She felt that the authenticity that we were looking to create would have a huge impact… she would help us with the whole atmosphere, the Mediterranean sort of feeling,” explains Jules Trump. A former pageant girl, this stunning star is one of the last surviving actresses from the Golden Age of Hollywood. She began her career at the young age of 16 and held small roles for about six years until she was discovered by Paramount and given a contract for five movies — thus launching her international movie career. Hailing from humble beginnings, Loren’s life is a story of rags to riches. As the child of unmarried parents, Loren was raised by her single mother and grandmother and only met her father a handful of times in her life. Despite the difficult odds, a 36
very attractive young Loren entered into Italian beauty pageants, winning small titles here and there, including “Miss Elegance 1950” and “Miss Cinema” at the 1950 Miss Italia beauty pageant. She was then encouraged to take acting lessons, which obviously paid off. Legendary Italian director Vittorio De Sica tapped the up-and-coming actress for a role in his film Two Women (1960), a career-defining film for Loren in which she garnered an Oscar for best actress and became the first actress to win an Academy Award for a performance in a foreign film.

Her celebrated career skyrocketed from there, and the international accolades and awards continued to f lood in, including a Grammy Award, five Golden Globes, awards from both the Cannes and Venice Film Festivals, and so many others.
Her husband, Italian producer Carlo Ponti, also played an integral part in the actress’ success. He was the one who encouraged Loren (born Sofia Villani Scicolone) to change her name after meeting the starlet during her pageant days. Sophia Loren, the stage name they conjured up, was inspired by Swedish actress Märta Torén. The Italian screen goddess often worked opposite her handsome Italian stallion counterpart, Marcello Mastroianni, who she has said was her favorite

actor to work with. In her autobiography, Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow: My Life (2014), Loren admits to almost falling for handsome American actor Cary Grant. Grant fell in love with the spicy Italian bombshell when she played the role of “Juana” opposite him in the movie The Pride and Passion (1957). It’s said that while the star swirled around and stomped her feet dancing the sultry f lamenco on set, Grant was awestruck, some say even obsessed. 38
A married (and much older) Grant pursued the bombshell, eventually leading to a torrid love affair. Loren was on the verge of marrying Ponti and Grant was determined to steal her away, a failed attempt, much to Grant’s dismay. Rumors of an affair and major sexual tension continued when Loren replaced Grant’s wife (at the time) Betsey Drake in the movie Houseboat (1959). The film star was no stranger to compromising and oftentimes utterly difficult predicaments, including begging for food from

American soldiers and getting hit with scrap metal during World War II, and, later in life, being groped by Marlon Brando on set. Loren’s dramatic personal life paled in comparison to the many diverse roles she played. From a funny rich girl posing as a housemaid to a woman trying to protect her daughter from the horrors of war, to a naive country girl-turned-call-girl, from the start Loren proved that she could take on any genre. Her compelling roles included parts in memorable movies like It Started in Naples (1960), Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow (1963), Marriage Italian Style (1964), The Voyage (1974), and A Special Day (1977). In the 1990s, Loren played a geriatric love interest in Grumpier Old Men (1995) and a fading icon in Prêt-à-Porter (1994). In 2009, Loren appeared in the musical Nine alongside Daniel Day-Lewis. She is set to return to the silver screen after a decade in The Life Ahead , a film directed by her son, Edoardo Ponti. Now, at 84 years young, the mother, grandmother, author, cruise ship godmother and singer still projects grace, glamour and major sex appeal and is enjoying her semi-retirement in Geneva, Switzerland.

EDUCATIONAL PURSUITS A free accommodation for children ages 5 to 12 years old, Acqualina’s marquee activity — the AcquaMarine kids program — turns your child’s hotel stay into a marine learning camp. The new curriculum grabs the attention of any kid with wanderlust. From Monday through Sunday, your son or daughter will play outdoors and create projects based on a unique theme. Each day offers a new pursuit — like a focus on aquatic life or sports — to make new and exciting memories. Acqualina’s largest playground offering is the beach itself, where the resort provides a wealth of toys to keep kids entertained.
NEW AQUATIC ADVENTURES With sweeping vistas of the intracoastal waterway and the Atlantic Ocean, Acqualina has a special affinity for marine life. So much so that they launched three new educational programs that are inspired by its soughtafter oceanfront location.
FA S T FAC T S
The AcquaMarine kids program is is open seven days a week.
New themes are introduced every six months for repeat campers.
AcquaMarine activities are complimentary for resort guests.
Campers enjoy sports, art adventures, team building and more.
Children are encouraged to take their masterpieces home.
Super Sea Storm, Ocean Mammals and the Amazing Alligators programs are held in the AcquaMarine children’s center, a state-of-the-art, 500-square-foot space that includes a computer center, video games, toys and more. Each program is an adventure.
program, where kids will play a variety of games from alligator tag to puzzles on an iPad.
Children love AcquaMarine’s playful décor, which features colorful stools and images of fishes and turtles.
Useful Tip: Parents (and approved family members) can keep a watchful eye on their campers from any device with Wi-Fi by using AcquaMarine’s video streaming system inside the children’s center.
Other existing themes in the AcquaMarine program include Feisty Fish, Squishy Stingers, Sea Turtles and Brilliant Dolphin Buddies.
When a kid signs up for an AcquaMarine program, which is made possible through a partnership with Miami Fitness Connection, they’re dubbed a Camper — an explorer who tours ocean life in both indoor and outdoor activities.
INSTAGRAM READY Designed with an eye-popping interior, Acqualina invited families to take lots of silly selfies in the FUN Room, a unique pop-up event held last year in a space where guests could select a cool immersive experience to engage in, like surfing a big wave or f loating with a cluster of bright balloons. Walls were decorated with splashes of bold colors and bubbles, creating a room that was ideal for capturing families’ favorite moments. Kids and parents alike took adorable selfies with a giant, animated ice cream cone or Acqualina’s signature ducklings. Keep an eye out for the next exciting pop-up experience on property.
MARINE THEME PROGRAMS In the Super Sea Storm program, your mini-me will learn about powerful hurricanes and storms through activities like Play the Build a Kit, CreateA-Cane, Human Whirlpool and Faster the Wind. There are plenty of mammals living in the sea. That’s why the Ocean Mammals program explores aquatic animals through exciting games like Paint a Sea Lion, 3D Whale, How to Draw a Dolphin, Predators Games and Orca Prey Relay Races.
When it comes to you and your family’s next holiday, Acqualina puts your kids first with so many opportunities for discovery, arts and learning.

What do you love most about your position? Serber Batievsky: When you are working in an ultraluxe, oceanfront residential environment, it doesn’t feel like a job. One of the greatest highlights is the opportunity to meet wonderful people from all over the world and share the lifestyle behind Acqualina. I absolutely love watching their amazing reactions when touring through our stunning model residence.
wonderful colleagues. It is so exciting to know I will never have the same day twice. Every day, I have a full calendar filled with surprises, as each buyer comes from a different part of the world with different expectations. Our buyers are highly educated, sophisticated and have traveled from all over looking for that little piece of heaven. Sharing the Estates’ vision is a magical experience; it’s a place where lifestyle, service, safety and amenities for every age and a healthy lifestyle become our way of living. In the end, what separates our Residences from other developments around the world is the extreme attention to detail that has become the seal on each new residence we deliver.
If you lived in The Estates, where would we find you among its luxurious and innovative amenities? Serber Batievsky: You would find me at AcquaFit, the health and fitness sanctuary for residents. The water therapy experiences are going to be incredible and there will be daily yoga, Pilates and Zumba classes and even a boxing ring.
What do you most admire about the late-Karl Lagerfeld’s lobby design? Checa: The name “Karl” around the world means timeless elegance with a certain edge to it. He loved breaking boundaries through fashion and creating beauty that could be appreciated and admired around the globe.
What are you most excited about when talking to prospective Estates buyers? Checa: The level of service and lifestyle we have to offer is incomparable to anything in the marketplace. I love seeing buyers envisioning themselves and their families making memories that will last for generations to come.
What is the best place to take a selfie in Acqualina? Cohen: On the hammock at the beach, wearing an Acqualina hat that says, “Take me back to Acqualina.” #paradise
Where are each of you originally from? Serber Batievsky: Argentina Cohen: Chicago Checa: Miami Vargas Hernandez: Puerto Rico
What do you recommend as the perfect South Florida outing for an Estates resident? Serber Batievsky: Renting a luxury yacht for the day and any type of watersports. I personally enjoy jet skiing. Miami is at its best when on the water!
Describe a typical day in the sales office. Vargas: It begins with a smile at arrival from my

From where do you originally hail? Johannesburg, South Africa Where did you learn so much about wine? In Johannesburg I had the distinct privilege of working with an incredible wine cellar and list ranging from local favorites such as Klein Constantia Sauvignon Blanc at $20 a bottle to Romanée-Conti at $15,000 a bottle. I worked with four sommeliers, two of whom were Advanced Court of Masters Sommeliers; it was a “wine culture” F&B operation, and I immediately fell in love with the romance between the food and wine. When and where do the Acqualina wine tastings take place? On Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. in the AQ Bar. How did you select the wine regions you present in the new wine journey? I select one Old World classic (French) expression of the grape variety, one local (California), as well as one New World (New Zealand, South Arica, Australia, Argentina, etc.) wine. What grape varieties are you showcasing each month? The grape varieties include chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon and both red and white blends.
How important is the hors d’oeuvre pairing with each wine you’re serving? The main reason for the hors d’oeuvres is to highlight how the different wines of the same grape variety perform with different bases of saline, cream/dairy and sugar for individual palates. What wine glass do you recommend for each variety? Generally, you should have four prominent glasses to enjoy your wine: Champagne, all-purpose white wine, Burgundy and all-purpose red wine glasses. If you occasionally enjoy a port or dessert wine, special wine glasses are needed. A decanter is also a must to enjoy certain grape varieties. Is choosing a proper glass important? The type of glass is very important. The larger or smaller the opening will allow for different aromas and different areas where the wine first comes into contact with the tongue. The more areas that are in contact with oxygen, the more the wine changes and releases different aromas.
What role does your security team play at the property? My security team is responsible for guarding and securing entry and access points as well as monitoring CCTV cameras around the property and checking-in guests and contractors. What is your proudest moment at The Mansions to date? When my AM Supervisor won employee of the year at the holiday party. She’s an extension of me and my training, so I was definitely proud! What is the question you receive most often from residents? “Who’s that?” Our residents know other Mansions residents, so when they see someone they don’t know they inquire about the individual. We screen all guests on Mansions property and give them guest/visitor wristbands, so I always have an answer for them.
You’ve no doubt walked every inch of The Mansions. What is your favorite spot? Our game room on the Mezzanine level. I play video games to relax when I’m not working, so to see all the gaming system and games is awesome.
SECURIT Y MANAG ER R AMON HAM ILTON LE ADS A PROFESSIONAL TE AM THAT WORKS SE AM LESSLY BEH IND TH E SCENES TO KEEP RESIDENTS SAFE AND SECURE.
Where are you originally from? Kingston, Jamaica. I left when I was 4 and have been in Miami ever since.
Tell us a few fun facts about yourself. I like to binge watch my favorite TV shows. I have seven tattoos. And, I’m a member of a motorcycle club even though I don’t own a motorcycle (sad but true).
What attracted you to work at The Mansions at Acqualina? I joined for a new challenge, and because I knew my experience and expertise could add to an already great luxury brand and team.
If you weren’t working in security, what would you be doing? I’d be in the FBI or Secret Service.
What do you enjoy most about your job? I enjoy two things the most: the residents and our team. We work together but it is more like family than coworkers. Attendees — which included Acqualina’s own CEO and Partner Deborah Yager-Fleming and General Manager Christof Pignet — met in the resort lobby for pictures and received a boxed lunch, hats and backpacks before departing for Haulover Beach Park. Representatives from the program gave an engaging presentation about the lives of sea turtles, the organization’s work and released the tiny turtles into the sea after 9 pm.

In the last few years, private jet travel has become more popular and more f lexible than ever: you can get a group together or book a single seat; you can become a member of a subscription service or do a one-off. What today’s private jet travel delivers is an enhancement of, and complement to, your resort experience. When you’re staying at Acqualina, you become accustomed to a certain level of service — and that should extend to your transportation. And that means indulging on a whim to f ly on a private jet. Using small, private airports allows you to avoid the anxiety of security lines and you can typically show up a few minutes before wheels up. That’s just the beginning. The whole
experience is about personal attention. Pilots, stewards, limo drivers: one-to-one service is the essence of luxury. Some of the world’s most popular private jet designers and manufacturers include Gulfstream, Boeing and Bombardier. For local options, those who want to explore various destinations in Florida and the Bahamas, BLADE is a hot upstart with an impressive in-state presence in addition to serving airports in addition to New York City, the Hamptons and California. From Miami Opa-Locka Executive Airport — where BLADE has a branded, designated lounge featuring modern design to enhance sociability — guests can charter ACQUALINARESORT.COM

the industry has worked hard to dispel that. For example, XO offers a three-tiered product structure, so it’s difficult to imagine anyone not finding a fit on the company’s centralized platform. First, you can simply book a single seat on an existing f light, or share a f light. Or you can create your own f light itinerary (and sell seats for credits on future f lights). Finally, let’s say do you need to hire your own plane. In that case, the company’s On Demand charter has access to more than 1,500 aircraft (including 116 XO-owned planes), and you can book it your

In terms of commitment, you’ll also find f lexibility. For the commitment-averse, XO lets you book seats and f lights á la carte. But private jet addicts may want to look into a membership, such When considering XO membership levels, if you travel less than 25 hours, then the entry-level XO Select Access is a good bet; more than 25 hourper-year flyers will want to sign up for a higher level membership.

The company offers a seamless lux experience that begins at check-in: A full premium complimentary bar is stocked with Casa Dragones tequila and VieVité rosé in the company’s signature BLADE cups. As much as luxury, f lexibility is the watchword of current private aviation. If many potential clients have been under the impression that they were required to book the entire cabin, and therefore shied away from private jet travel,

as XO Select Access, Signature Access and Elite Access. To figure out if a membership works for your lifestyle, potential clients should do a quick back-of-thenapkin accounting: Add up the number of hours you’ll typically f ly each year. But for some high-f liers, nothing will do except owning their own jet. Anyone in that exalted class needs to do a thorough inventory of their travel needs (regional, domestic or global?) and posse
size (solo business trips or big family movements across the skies?). In any case, one outfit located in South Florida is Gold Aviation Services, based near Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The company just sold a Cessna Citation 500, and lists another great choice for business travelers, the King Jet 250, for under $5 million. A seat on the tour lets you sample succulent dishes from restaurants whose chefs were recognized by the James Beard Foundation, a leading non-profit organization that honors the culinary world.
With celebrity chefs executing the latest techniques and plating, Miami is a global culinary crossroads where different cultures, cooking styles and ingredients all converge on local menus.
Go by yourself or bring up to four friends. The four-hour tour provides ground transportation, so there’s no need for a ride share. To participate in Acqualina’s Top Chefs Tour you must book your reservations two weeks before the tour.
n the last few years Miami has become the epicenter for fine dining. Critically-acclaimed restaurants with menus inspired by far-off locales like Asia and the Mediterranean can be found in the coolest neighborhoods. What better way to explore these gastropubs than by signing up for Acqualina’s Top Chefs Tour, a culinary tasting experience where you eat and sip at top restaurants. Aside from its scenic views, the Magic City is known for serving menus that are inf luenced by robust f lavors from around the world and utilize locally sourced ingredients and seafood. In Miami’s foodie scene, inventive chefs are known for creating delightful menus that ref lect their cultural background.
The 38-seat, minimalistic gastropub located at 223 Northwest 23rd Street offers a refined, seasonal American menu crafted by Chef Bradley Kilgore that includes locally sourced seafood, tropical fruits and meats. You can take in the eaterie’s industrial design by dining indoors, which includes an open kitchen area, or eating outdoors in the tranquil garden. If the soft egg doesn’t captivate you, then the sweet, tender grouper cheek will. A strong contender among guests who are a fan of seafood, the grouper cheek is a tender reminder of Alter’s proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. The popular dish is served with black rice, soy sauce, hollandaise sauce, sea lettuce and cucumbers.
This page: Perry’s Steakhouse; Opposite page: Upland, Alter and Perry’s Steakhouse
PROPER PLATES Who would have predicted that a small dish would cause such a big stir? When it comes to eating Alter’s soft egg — a rich dish made of sea scallop espuma, chives, gruyere and truff le pearls with Siberian caviar — there’s an art to savoring this local cult favorite. Rumor has it that the best way to devour the soft egg is by digging your spoon to the bottom of the dish, then scooping out a spoonful of each of the delectable ingredients mixed together.
IF YOU’RE CRAVING DELICIOUS ENTRÉES WITH A SIDE OF “INSTAGRAMMABLE” AMBIENCE, MIAMI’S MOST POPULAR DINING ESTABLISHMENTS OFFER UNIQUE SETTINGS AND STUNNING DÉCOR.
BARBECUE GRILL An off-the-grid hot spot tucked in the Wynwood Arts District, KYU is the wood-fire grill that will appease all of your barbecuestyle cravings.
A five-star restaurant is designated as such after demonstrating that its food, service, ambience, etc., are all exceptional.
Located at 251 Northwest 25 Street in one of Miami’s coolest neighborhoods, KYU exudes creativity with industrial indoor seating juxtaposed against a rustic décor. Helmed by Chef Michael Lewis, who prepares meats using a mix of American and Asian barbecue methods, the dining experience provides guests with a low-key, reserved atmosphere to indulge in fusion meals. If you ask locals which entrée is worth the drive from Sunny Isles Beach to Wynwood, they’re torn between the Korean fried chicken — a savory, f lavorful delight — and the tender, mouth-watering crisp pork belly steamed bun. Another sleeper hit that guests can’t stop raving about is the brunch staple burrata, a creamy cheese made from cow’s milk, mozzarella and cream that’s served with a side of sweet, yuzu marmalade and toast. BIG APPLE Take a trip to the South of Fifth area and dine at Upland, a laid-back bistro that serves vegan meals for brunch, dinner and late happy hour. Located at 49 Collins Avenue in South Beach, the gastropub’s menu features scrumptious Italian and California-inspired entrées made from grilled seafood and meats, all curated by Chef Justin Smillie.
Perry’s Steakhouse (2)
One of the most talked about perks at Upland are the bottomless mimosas that are served during brunch for a lush, fun time. Upland’s infamous fried duck wings — a juicy alternative to fried chicken — compliments the Tuscan-style pistachio pizza, for a nutty taste.
Classic Italian dishes, like the bucatini cacio e pepe and the pappardelle ragu with spicy sausage, kale and Parmesan will leave a warm feeling in your heart for its simplicity. RARE FORM Beyond Acqualina’s tour, venture down to chic Coral Gables — which boasts boulevards and architecture recalling Old Spain — for more sumptuous dining options. Nestled within the Shops at Merrick Park lies the first Florida location of one of the country’s premier, award-winning steakhouses: Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille. True to its meat market roots, Perry’s serves thick cuts of prime USDA-aged steaks with exceptional marbling for the best texture. They are prepared on an infrared broiler at 1800 degrees and then topped with Perry’s Signature Steak Butter, made with fresh herbs and garlic. Perry’s Famous Pork Chop is more than just meat, it’s a whole experience. Measuring seven fingers high, the mouthwatering chop is roasted over pecan wood for four to six hours before it’s glazed and caramelized upon order, delivering a distinctly sweet and smoky f lavor. This larger-than-life serving is plated as three portions for sharing or the über hungry. Plus, enjoy perfectly paired wines, inventive cocktails and tempting desserts.

“WE PROVIDE A full picture SO FUTURE RESIDENTS CAN SEE IN ITS ENTIRETY WHAT THEY’RE
A popular folk tale that has been told in various iterations over time involves a street urchin who finds a mysterious lamp that when rubbed, reveals a genie who grants the boy three wishes. Whether or not it’s based on historical fact or just mere fantasy, the story is beloved by countless many; for who among us doesn’t dream of a wish (or three) coming true?
actually going to buy.”
Now, the newly-renovated sales gallery of The Estates at Acqualina — the next phase of The World’s Finest ResidencesTM — is that magic lamp, ready to be discovered so it can grant not just three, but all of your grandest wishes.
– MICHAEL GOLDSTEIN
“Walking into the gallery is like walking into a home,” President of Sales Michael Goldstein says about the newly refurbished, glamorized space highlighted by a model apartment sure to blow the minds of prospective buyers… even those who think they’ve seen it all. “While other developers might present a kitchen and bath, we provide a full picture so future residents can see in its entirety what they’re actually going to buy.” The Ravello, a four bedroom, six-and-a-half bath model on glorious display at the northeast corner of the North Tower, is ready to be toured and adored.
Created by a leading developer in collaboration with acclaimed architects, designers and hoteliers, The Estates offers Miami’s most exquisite beachfront living experience.
It’s much more than a sneak preview; it’s a complete look at the exquisite furnishings, rich materials and extraordinary attention to detail that sets The Trump Group, developer of The Mansions, Acqualina Resort and now The Estates, apart. The Mediterranean sensibility that characterizes Acqualina endures. The threefold infusion of art, architecture and lifestyle is ever-present. But the two new towers and 245 luxury residences that comprise The Estates introduces the ultra-contemporary f lair that today’s families crave. And as for its style aesthetic, one name says it all: Karl Lagerfeld. The late, iconic creative director of French fashion house Chanel is responsible for the design of The Estates’ lobbies, his first and only real estate project in the U.S.
The experience of visiting the sales gallery is one of wonder and delight. At the center of a state-of-theart media room is a “magic table” that operates the video presentation by touch and swipe. The viewer is instantly captivated by the stunning visuals, projected on a round screen and enveloping the room in surround sound. It’s just the beginning of the technological tour de force that embodies the sales process. “We also have both a stone and furniture configurator,” continues Goldstein. “It’s like buying a Ferrari. You choose what you want and see exactly what you’re getting.”
at The Mansions, Isabel and Todd Tragash, principals of STA Architectural Group, are spearheading the design of The Estates’ common areas and residences. “The sense of arrival starts at the private foyer and once the front doors open, unobstructed f loor-to-ceiling windows provide an impactful view, while the open f loorplan lends a relaxed feel, albeit one dressed in very fine finishes,” says Isabel. With the understanding that they are designing for the well-traveled resident with discerning taste and an eye for quality, the team scours the far corners of the Earth to secure the perfect marble, regardless how remote the quarry. Hence, the white onyx that bathes the walls, f loors and countertops in ultra-refined elegance.
Exactly what a prospective Estates buyer is getting is a lot to take in. On the heels of their rousing success
From unrivaled indoor and outdoor amenities and estatesized residences with sweeping Atlantic Ocean views to five-star hotel-style services, residents will enjoy a lifestyle beyond compare.
Indeed, the most distinguishing aspect of The Estates at Acqualina is its wealth of indoor and outdoor amenities. At its center is Villa Acqualina, housing a staggering 50,000 square feet equipped with everything from a boxing ring to a nightclub to a cigar lounge. The lower level, aptly named “Circus Maximus” as it’s arguably the greatest entertainment venue this side of Rome, includes leisurely pursuits for all ages— including a four-lane bowling alley, ice skating rink and Formula 1 racing simulator indoors, and outdoors, a dog park, bocce court, sculpture gardens, zero-entry infinity-edge and adults-only pool… and even a FlowRider® surfing simulator. Joining the three outstanding restaurants on property, the addition of an exquisite, Mediterranean dining establishment is soon to be announced.

With the North Tower of The Estates, not only is the best getting better, it’s getting easier than ever before. Unprecedented and unrivaled, the $1.8 billion residential development is the first to deliver fully-furnished, curated residences that combine the award-winning, awe-inspiring talent of STA Architectural Group with Luxury Living’s treasure trove of the most important names in the home category. “The turnkey-finished concept resonates especially well with both local and international buyers because the Acqualina brand has distinguished itself for its fine interior design and attention to detail,” says STA principal Isabel Tragash, who along with her husband, Todd, have executed developers Jules and Eddie Trumps’ vision of effortless elegance to perfection. Surfaces are treated by materials both luxe and elusive. Sophisticated furnishings fashioned at the hands of world-class artisans bring comfort and panache. And spaces are illuminated by the brilliance that only crystal — shaped and draped into dramatic lighting fixtures — can provide. “We recently did a mass mailing of 10,000 gold toothbrushes,” says Michael Goldstein, President of Sales for The Estates. “The implication is that’s all you need to move in.” Your dream home at your fingertips, a swift and hassle-free entrée to the all-encompassing luxury lifestyle that Acqualina offers. The Estates at Acqualina’s North Tower is slated for delivery the last quarter of 2021.

Does Miami have a strong presence in the global real estate market? Miami has the presence of a large international city, albeit small by population standards, having a total population of just under 3 million. Its world presence was recently validated by the Knight Frank Wealth Report, which ranked Miami as the 5th fastest growing real estate market in the world and #1 in the U.S. Do you foresee any potential downturns in the local market? The downturn in the local real estate market is nearing its end, caused mostly by the high U.S. dollar. This factor alone has caused a downturn since 2016, resulting in a substantial slowdown of South American buying activity. Despite the extraordinary desire for most Latin families to own property in Miami, the exchange rates were not favorable. Thankfully, we are nearing the end of the slowdown. What advice would you give someone who is interested in buying? Miami is a condo buyer’s market. There remains a slight overhang of condo inventory from this current building cycle, which began in 2012. However, the population gains in Miami is absorbing this inventory at a steady pace, leaving this current buyer’s market available for one more year, when prices are expected to rise substantially due to declining supply and lower mortgage rates, resulting in a seller’s market. What do you tell your clients who may be hesitant to invest in real estate now? Hesitancy to buy is usually a result of bad information about the state of the market. Take the time to become informed on current data. The closer you look at Miami, the more likely it is you will lose your hesitation. There is nothing new coming on the market. 78
