This abs exercise tip will save you a great deal of time, money, and frustration. Today there is so much misinformation and confusion about how to lose weight, have flat abs, and maintain a lean appearance. Diet books promise you flat abs if you will adopt a particular eating plan. Infomercials promise you flat abs if you will purchase their abdominal exercise machine. Both the diet books and abs machines are appealing because they both focus on our fat belly. We are focused on our abdominal area when we are on a fad diet. Why? Because we stay hungry! We associate a growling stomach with shrinking belly fat. This is a critical mistake when trying to lose belly fat and get lean abs. If you are hungry all the time you will not lose belly fat. In fact, if you are staying in the starvation mode, you are slowing your metabolism and storing more fat. Don't fall into the trap of thinking that a hungry stomach is a shrinking stomach. Abs exercises make your abs burn. Whether you use the latest abs machine or do hundreds of abs crunches on the floor, you are trying to get that burning sensation below your belly fat. Typically what happens is that you do these abs exercises for a week or two and get those abs really burning. However, you notice no change in your waist size. Frustration sets in and you simply give up. The best abs exercise tip I can give you is: Don't focus on your abs. I know this abs exercise tip is counter intuitive but it really is the best thing you can do to lose belly fat and get lean abs. Let's get more specific. Don't focus on having an empty and growling stomach. Instead focus on never being hungry. Change your mentality about food. Instead of starving your body, turn it into a fat-burning machine. Here's how:

Always eat a healthy breakfast. Don't start your day by staying in the fasting mode. You must break this mode that started when you fell asleep the night before. You rev up your metabolism for fat-burning by eating a healthy breakfast.

Eat moderately-sized and balanced meals every 3-4 hours all day. You must keep your metabolism revved up all day to lose belly fat. Eating only one or two large meals every day will not help you in shrinking belly fat.

Eat protein, carbohydrates, and fat at each meal. Your body needs these three macronutrients in the proper proportions at each meal. Ignore those fad diets that tell you to eliminate any macronutrient.

Also, don't focus on having burning abdominal muscles. Here's why: You lose belly fat by burning calories. Abs exercises don't create much of a calorie deficit. Abs exercises will help you build your abdominal muscles. So, if you've lost all the belly fat you want and are ready to build six-pack abs, then it's time for abs exercises. Otherwise you will lose belly fat by creating a calorie deficit. Do this by moderate calorie reduction and two forms of exercise:

Aerobic exercise. Walking, joggging, swimming, and many other forms of physical activity can be successful. Your exercise session should be for 30-45 minutes. Do this 3-5 times each week and lose your belly fat.

Strength training. Resistance training isn't just for professional builders. 2-3 sessions of weight training each week will help you build muscle and get a lean appearance. Muscle burns fat and will help you get flat abs faster.

Try this abs exercise tip and forget focusing on your abs to get flat abs.
