PROGRAM BLOCK 3 2:00 – 3:15 PM FOOD JUSTICE Shackle and Hoist Slaughter: Standing Up to Cruelty in the Kosher Meat System Synagogue Yadidya Greenberg Shortly before the presidential election took place, PETA and Anonymous for Animals Rights (Israel) released a disturbing video of South American kosher slaughterhouses performing a brutal and inhumane form of slaughter called shackle and hoist. This practice has been banned in the United States and Israel but meat from Shackle and Hoist facilities is still being exported to both countries. Join JIFA’s kosher meat and animal welfare specialist Yadidya Greenberg to find out more about this practice and what you can do to stop it.
