Veterans Blvd. Pontchartrain Blvd. - 17th St. Canal
Project Overview Veterans Blvd. from Pontchartrain Blvd. to the 17th St. Canal is being repaired as part of the South Louisiana Submerged Roads Program. The repair process will consist of removing two inches of old asphalt pavement, patching as required, placing back new asphalt pavement, curb repairs, new striping and markers, and new ADA handicap ramps.
Schedule This project is tentatively scheduled to begin construction June 2009 and continue until December 2009. These dates are subject to change.
About the South Louisiana Submerged Roads Program The South Louisiana Submerged Roads Program is an extensive repair program to restore roads damaged by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Administered by the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development (DOTD), the program is 100 percent funded by the Emergency Relief Program of the Federal Highway Administration. Phase A of the program includes more than 50 street projects in Orleans, Jefferson, and St. Bernard parishes, and is anticipated to cost approximately $100 million.
