Report from the 3rd World Planning Schools Congress in Perth (Western Australia), 4-8 July 2011 Since 2001 the Global Planning Education Association Network (GPEAN) organises every five years a World Congress. In 2011 the WPSC was hosted by the University of Western Australia (UWA) with the support of the regional Planning Schools Association ANZAPS. The conference theme selected was ‘Planning’s Future – Futures Planning: Planning in an Era of Global (Un)Certainty and Transformation.’ While the opening reception was held on UWA’s premises in the attractive Winthrop Hall, the conference was deemed too big to be hosted in its entirety on campus. Thus, the remainder of the congress took place in the modern Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre near the CBD. The two keynote speaker, Professor Robert Freestone (University of New South Wales, Australia) and Billy Cobbett (City Alliance) took up and interpreted the conference theme in their respective presentations.
