Haskell Athletics is in a precarious situation. With federal funding decreasing and costs for athletics increasing, there are not sufficient funds to keep our entire program running at a high level. While it has not been done in the recent past, Haskell is turning to its alumni for help. Athletics is in need of an outside injection of cash in order to continue to compete at the level that Haskell is known

for. The Haskell Letterman’s Club is hoping to tap into the alumni pride in Haskell sporting history to help build for the future. The Haskell Tribe is hurting and it needs every one of its Indians to rally to its aid. GIVE BACK NOW

Sporting Significance At Haskell, athletes make up over 30% of the entire student body. With even more participating in or attending athletic events. Sport is a mainstay on the Haskell campus and is an integral part of the Haskell school experience. Sport helps drive our enrollment figures and in many ways helps to keep the school afloat. Help us to fund this driving factor on our campus.

HASKELL HISTORY

Built in 1926, Haskell Stadium was funded through donations in order to secure a place that could attract college football teams from across the nation to come play at Haskell

A Look at Haskell Days Past The Haskell Stadium archway, as well as the stands are recognized landmarks and stand as reminders of the school’s athletic history. The stadium still stands as the signature piece of the campus. It is the eyecatching building that visitors first see when they arrive and, for many, the lasting image that they leave with from their visit. Without this building, Haskell is simply not Haskell. Your donations will guarantee that this stadium will continue to be full on game days and be renovated for future Haskell students and family to enjoy and remember for years to come.

Tribal Representation Over 70 different Tribal Nations are represented through Haskell athletics. The Women’s Basketball team represents 21 different tribes all by itself. While we all come from different families and different tribes, Haskell is that one common thread for all of us. Whether athlete or nonathlete, Sioux or Navajo; we are all Haskell.

Haskell “Student-Athletes” At Haskell, unlike other institutions, the word “student-athlete” actually holds true, because at Haskell being a “student” actually comes before being an “athlete”. In 2013, 47 Student Athletes and student support staff were honored at commencement (20 Bachelor’s Degrees and 27 Associate Degrees). Haskell athletes earn their degrees through hard work in the classroom and on the playing surface.

After losing over $200,000 in federal funding, we are looking to come back stronger. We have set a goal of $300,000 in giving for the year to compensate for the losses and to build for the future. Haskell Athletics currently lacks the funds to pay for its assistant coaches, proper transportation, and any much needed facility improvements. While these dollar amounts seem large and daunting, together YOU can make it happen. GIVE BACK NOW
