WELCOME We are excited you are interested in attending a summer camp at Hartfield Academy! It is our desire to offer both our families and our community fun activities that allow students, as young as K3, to develop a new skill, explore their creativity, or enhance their athletic abilities. This camp brochure is organized by week and each camp is grade specific. Camp grades are based on student's rising grade for the Fall of 2019.

CAMP LOGISTICS

CLOTHING It’s summertime! We encourage students to dress in comfortable clothes suitable for the Mississippi heat. T-shirt, shorts, and tennis shoes with socks will be the best fit for most camps.

WATER We recommend that every student bring a water bottle with their name clearly written on the outside. Please feel free to provide your own snack each day.

TRANSPORTATION If your child is participating in Summer Nest, there will be transportation from East to Main Campus for most camps. All camps marked with the car icon will have transportation from East to Main campus.

LOCATION All of our camps will be located on our Main Campus unless otherwise noted.

Check-in will be in the Main Campus Gym Commons.

WEEK 1

May 28th - May 31st CREATIVE AND CRITICAL THINKING CAMP PITCHER/CATCHER BASEBALL CAMP

PITCHER/CATCHER BASEBALL CAMP -CHUCK BOX MAY 29TH-MAY 31ST | 9:00 AM- 12:00 PM | $75.00 GRADES: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 This special three-day camp will focus on the development of each player’s pitching and catching skills. Players are individually coached through drill work to teach the finer points of pitching and catching. This camp will also feature strength and conditioning and the mental aspects of pitching and catching.

Form, footwork, and shot selection will be taught. Campers will learn how to get open to shoot in the flow of offense and how to read screens for a good shot.

There will be a camp-out on the baseball field. Bring your camping supplies for a fun time with your child! Dinner will be provided, and breakfast served Saturday morning at 7:30am.

This three-day specialty baseball hitting camp is designed for players that are interested in improving their hitting skills in a concentrated, skill-specific environment. Hitters will be coached through development drills, experience live on field hitting, as well as exit velocity training and video breakdown.

STAR WARS-COMPUTER EXPLORERS JUNE 17TH-JUNE 20TH | 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM | $130.00 GRADES: K5 1 2 3 | EAST CAMPUS Come on an adventure to explore a far, far away galaxy with Hans Solo, Princess Leia, Anakin, R2D2 and Darth Vader. Learn about circuits and create your own lightsaber. Enter into Anakin’s workspace to complete STEM challenges. Program and race droids with R2D2. Create your own Star Wars Video Game and complete Jedi training activities! Please send a snack and drink each day.

DANCE CAMP SESSION 1-ANN LAYTON TOLER JUNE 17TH-JUNE 20TH | 9:00 AM- 12:00 PM | $90.00 GRADES: K3 K4 K5 | EAST CAMPUS

This camp offers students training that can be utilized across multiple athletic platforms. This camp will focus on the ability to accelerate, decelerate, quickly change directions, and the fundamentals of the sprinting form. These campers will come away with an understanding and tools that they will be able to use as they grow and mature in their athletic career.

Go Hawks Go! The girls will learn the basic fundamentals of dance. They will be able to hang out and spend time with the Varsity Dance team members. By the end of the week, they will know and perform new dance moves and routines.

Improve your soccer fundamentals with this camp designed to improve skills through individual and team drills all while teaching the importance of a Christ-like character on and off the field. Campers will learn passing, dribbling, shooting, crossing, and other soccer strategies.

We will be making lots of neat jewelry including leather stamped bracelets and beaded wire wrap bracelets. A snack will be provided.

Explore new blocks, build your own house and learn more about animal taming in a secure teacher-controlled world. Also, create your own stop-motion animation movie featuring Steve, Alex, Creepers and many more characters from the game. Handson Minecraft STEM activities will bring the world of Minecraft to life! Taught by the staff of Hartfield's football team, students will be divided into ability groups and will have the chance to compete and showcase their new skills.

Here We Go Hawks! The girls will learn the basic fundamentals of cheerleading, including cheers, chants, and dances. They will enjoy time with the older cheerleaders. By the end, they will be able to cheer on the Hawks!

This camp is designed to teach the game of volleyball in a relaxed and fun environment. We will focus on individual player development. All aspects of the game will be taught by experienced coaches who are passionate about the game of volleyball. We will focus on technique, skill development, and individual self confidence. We will provide a positive environment so each camper will gain confidence as a volleyball player while improving their physical skills! It will be a week they will never forget!

Campers will create their very own, unique products such as bath bombs, face masks and even glittery slime.

They will explore coding and robotics while making jewelry and engineering a fashion runway, movie set and much more! We will end the week with a “Pajama Day” for our clever chemist to try out their creations! This camp is filled with fun and great take-home projects. Please send a snack and drink each day.
