2017 Community Impact Humane

Animal

Rescue

Dear friends: The advancement of animal advocacy in Western Pennsylvania took an incredible leap forward in 2017 and I’m pleased to share with you the achievements that we’ve been able to realize thanks to your support. Last year marked the beginning of a new chapter for animals in need throughout our region and beyond! The Animal Rescue League and the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society officially merged to form our new organization, becoming one of the largest animal welfare nonprofits in Pennsylvania - Humane Animal Rescue. Simultaneously, we also opened our new East End Animal Resource Center, one of the most advanced animal housing and medical facilities in the United States. Although these milestones consumed much of our time and attention, we still managed to expand services and programming, touching the lives of thousands of domestic and wild animals. The statistics you read in this report represent the dedication of our staff, volunteers, and individuals like you. Truly, we could not accomplish this life-saving work without your support. On behalf of the animals in need, thank you! Sincerely, Dan Rossi, CEO
