Harry Coumnas – Encountered a Giant Spider in a Rainforest of Colombia

About Harry Coumnas • Harry is a distinguished and well-known scientist who recently encountered a giant spider. • He encountered this spider while taking a nighttime walk in a rainforest of Colombia.

Details of Harry’s Encounter• During his walk, he heard something scampering under his foot. • On turning the torch light towards it, he expected to see a small insect or any other mammal such as a rat, but instead he saw a spider that measured one foot across. • This was quite enormous and almost the size of a puppy.

More about the Spider Encountered • Harry Coumnas said that it was a giant huntsman spider with a larger leg span and looked bigger than a bird eater. • He even said that comparing it with the huntsman was like comparing a giraffe to an elephant. • The spider’s enormity was evident from the sounds it made. • He also said that it had feet with hardened tips and claws producing a very distinct, clicking sound.

What Happened When Harry Coumnas Approached the Spider? • The spider was rubbing its hind legs against its abdomen. • At first, Harry thought its behavior to be cute, but soon he realized that the spider was sending out a cloud of hair with microscopic barbs on them. • When the hair came in contact with the eyes or other mucous membranes caused extreme pain and itching.

What Happened After The Encounter? • Harry Coumnas took the spider specimen (which was a female) to his lab to study. • After this, he left it in the country’s most popular museum.

THANK YOU Harry Coumnas
