Assistant Coach * Second Year

michael SENEY

james THOMAS

Michael Seney has taken a rising program and catapulted it to new heights. In his two years at the helm, the Fighting Owls reached the NJCAA National Tournament for the first time in school history, won a pair of NJCAA Region XX Championships and the program’s first two MD JUCO Tournament Championships. Seney garnered MD JUCO Co-Coach of the Year honors after leading the 2015-16 Fighting Owls to an undefeated conference record while winning the dozen games by a 49.2 points per game average. Since taking over the Harford women’s basketball program, Seney has guided his team to a perfect 32-0 record against teams in the conference.

Assistant Coach * Second Year

f. qoun PAULIN

Seney mentored a pair of MD JUCO First-Team All-Conference performers in Mia Fitts and Daisa Harris in 2015-16. Harris leads the nation in assists (8.0 apg) and ranks fifth with 4.2 steals per game. Overall on the season, the Fighting Owls lead the nation in scoring (95.1), rebounding (53.3), assists (21.6) and steals (17.0). In 2014-15, Seney took over a deep and talented roster that he helped recruit and guided the Fighting Owls to their first MD JUCO Tournament Championship and second-straight NJCAA Division I Region XX Championship. Harford finished the season with a then school-record 26 wins, and Seney was at the helm of the team during a 21-2 finish to the best season in program history. The Fighting Owls made their third-straight MD JUCO Tournament Final, but topped Hagerstown, 67-59, to win the 2015 MD JUCO Crown. Seney then led the team to its third-straight Region XX Championship with a 6959 victory over rival Baltimore City. His only two losses on the season came against ASA, on the road in the regular season and at home in the District C Championship Game. Seney joined the Fighting Owl family as the assistant coach of the women’s basketball team during the 2013-14 season. He helped guide the team to its third-best record in school history and the program’s first NJCAA Region XX Championship. The Fighting Owls posted a 23-6 record in his first season, where he worked with the post players and recruiting, as well as game day management and practice plans. Seney has AAU coaching experience in Delaware. Seney played football at Nichols College, an NCAA Division III school in Massachusetts before transferring to Wilmington University. Seney’s brother, Malachi, was a guard on the men’s team from 2012-15.

Harford Fighting Owls Athletics Academic Services

The Athletics Department at Harford Community College prides itself on the academics of its studentathletes. The Fighting Owls set records and lead the conference and region in academic honors year after year. For the eighth consecutive year, Harford led all 16 schools in the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference with a record 30 student-athletes named to the Md Juco All-Academic Team; 11 more than the next closest school. Six out of the last seven years, the Fighting Owls have boasted the most student-athletes on the All-Region 20 Academic Team, topping all 27 teams in the region this season with 19 award winners. Harford is celebrating particular success since Athletic Director Ken Krsolovic started the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll during the Fall of 2009. The semester honor roll has seen 895 student-athletes earn recognition in the past 14 semesters, including a school-record 80 in the Fall of 2012. During the 2015-16 school year, 133 total studentathletes were honored. The Department has a full-time Manager for Athletic Compliance and Student-Athlete Success on hand to help work with student-athletes and coaches on their academic progress in order to maintain good academic standing for our student-athletes, helping them to graduate as well as stay eligible for competition. Harford distributes weekly attendance reports to the coaching staff, who in turn distribute the forms

to their athletes. The athletes are responsible for having their professors sign the form at every class meeting, and the Manager for Athletic Compliance and StudentAthlete Success uses the sheets to track an athlete’s attendance in each course. Monthly electronic progress reports are also Women’s Soccer’s Christina Verzi distributed to all faculty (2013) had a perfect 4.0 GPA. members, ensuring that the administration, coaching staff, and student-athletes are aware of their academic progress. This also helps to catch those studentathletes who may be struggling in their courses and enables the Manager for Athletic Compliance and Student-Athlete Success to create an academic success plan. Individualized tutoring is available for all student-athletes and can be arranged by contacting the Academic Services Coordinator. Any students who are enrolled in transitional courses are required to complete mandatory minutes in the Academic Skills Center each week.
