Dearjoe four regular 72pt A short brief set by Primeur Ltd who are suppliers of cushions and flooring. Working from a pre-set trend board developed by Primeur on the theme of ‘Greenhouse’ with a vintage feel and appreciation of nature as inspiration. The task was to design a 40x40cm printed cushion within an hour as this is the pace Primeur work on to day to day.

Live Brief - Primeur Ltd - Board 1 of 1

Final resolution of the two Kissing Birds is mocked up on natural coloured linen cushions and shown in three colours. Often in a retail environment of soft furnishing and interior items, designs are offered in a range of colours to fit in with the various colour schemes featured in the shop. A mock up of a proposed display within a store environment is showing the cushion in a wicker chair.

The audience for these products would be typically be 25-45years old. They would be setting up home or refurnishing their existing home and looking to buy mid market products which will blend in with the rest of their interior to create a calm and restful ambiance. They would primarily be located in the country side or suburban.

The chosen design of two ‘Kissing Birds’ is very simplistic with a romantic twist brought on by the choice of typeface and wording used. Soft, natural colours have been used to follow the theme of nature which could fit into a vintage scheme as well as a more contemporary environment.

A few examples of the current trend of printed cushions available. There is also a big selection of cushions with text written on them on the market following the same trend as prints and textiles. The final resolution builds on both tendencies whilst keeping the design very simple in order to appeal to a wider audience.
