PHUKET PARADISE. T
he citizens in Phuket have been making several complaints about how tourists are polluting it, but actually, they are also a part of it. Of course tourists create immense sound pollution from the parties in Patong and they also throw beer bottles all over the place. A lot of people complain about “tuk-tuks” and minivans, but if the vehicle is polluting, it is the owner’s responsibility to fix it. Every day, I see motorbikes with white smoke coming out of the engine. This means that the driver is out of gasoline and probably doesn’t understand the problem. Instead of going to fill up on gas, which costs somewhere around 120 baht, they have to go and repair their bike, which could cost a couple thousand baht.
What it used to be
. ARE YOU SURE?
What it is becoming
verybody knows about the flood in 2011 in Thailand, but even though most of the houses are repaired, you can still see lots of plastic floating around in the water and collecting on the streets. What you also see a lot of is locals burning their trash in their backyard. This creates unimaginable smells and is a big contributor to global warming. In the Chao Phraya river – which runs through Bangkok and then through the Gulf of Thailand, there are loads of vines that have fallen off trees, but there is also an immense amount of trash that has been thrown into it. For example: plastic bottles, trash bags, wrappers of all kinds and even leftover food. Not only is that pollution, but it also kills the fish, as they think the trash is food. Throughout Thailand, tourists use long tail boats to go out to islands and beaches. You might never have thought about it, but the motor kills a huge amount of fish, which can actually also pollute the water.
MAKE A DIFFERENCE! DO ELSE TO
A car driving construction workers to the site... yes, there is a man standing on the bars in the back of the truck.
ne of the big problems about pollution here in Phuket is that people drive incredibly non-eco friendly cars and motorbikes. So if you ever want to buy a car, not only in Phuket but elswhere, I strongly reccomend a hybrid engine. A lot of people think that it would make a lot of noise and be very strange to drive, but it actually makes sitting in the car all day quite comfortable. Along with being eco-friendly, it has minimal sound and very smoothly. Apart from those few, but important, features, there aren’t many differences from a normal car.

f you plan on getting an office, building a house or any other sort of construction, you should make and attempt at ecofriendly energy. You can get energy from water turbines, solar panels and wind turbines. If you decide you do not have what is needed to install these things, you can just go along with the normal suggestions. http://www.lastormwater.org/siteorg/residents/ howucnhp.htm
