Youth Swimming Group Lessons Program
How to Register Priority Onsite Registration: December 14, 9am - 8pm December 15, 9am - 11pm
Why Group Swim Lessons?
Bring a completed registration form for each child into the Rec Center on or after 9am on December 14 or 15. Please also bring a corresponding payment in order to receive priority scheduling. We accept cash, check, money order or major credit cards.
This is a great way for your children to learn to swim without the huge costs! By limiting class sizes and keeping a ratio of 1 instructor to every 3 students, we are providing the best possible program to the public while trying to also meet the demand for the classes.
Mail-In/Walk-In Registration December 16 - January 24
If you choose to cancel for any reason, you will be charged a $25 administrative fee.
Please complete the registration form and mail it in, or drop it off during business hours along with a corresponding payment. We accept cash, check, money order or major credit cards.
Rowan University refunds typically take about 4 weeks to process.
All registration forms will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Priority onsite scheduling will be given on Dec 14 & 15 only. Unfortunately, due to space, time, and staff limitations, there is a limit on the amount swimmers admitted to each session. In the event capacity is reached, we will stop accepting registrations.

Toddler Class Ages 3−4 yrs
This class is designed to make children become comfortable with the water. The main skills this class focuses on includes supported float (front and back), supported kicking, supported arm movements, and basic water safety. Pre-requisites: Must be willing to enter the water on their own.
Level 2 This class is designed to take children that are comfortable in the water and start to build upon the skills taught in Level 1. We push the students to perform the skill without supports. Skills taught include unsupported kicking, using arm movements on front while floating, treading water, and finning. Pre-requisites: Completion or demonstration of all Level 1 skills.
In the toddler class children will learn to adjust to the water. Skills taught include bubble blowing, supported front and back kick, supported arm movements on front and back, supported front and back glide, and water safety. Pre-requisites: Children MUST be potty trained! All children move at a different pace, so we will allow children to stay in the toddler level even if they complete all the skills. However, if you would like, we can move a child (even if younger in age) to Level 1 after demonstrating the ability to perform all toddler skills!
Level 3 This class is designed to improve upon skills learned in Level 2. Skills taught include front crawl, elementary backstroke, and introduction of the scissor kick. Pre-requisites: Completion or demonstration of all Level 2 skills.
Level 4 This class is designed to refine the skills learned in Level 3. It also introduces the butterfly and breaststroke while increasing endurance. Skills taught include front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke. Possible diving based on skill level. Pre-requisties: Completion or demonstration of all Level 3 skills. Goggles are strongly recommended for all levels!
Lesson Format All lessons will be conducted in a semi-private format. There will be a maximum of 3 children per group with one instructor per group. Private lessons are no longer available due to the demand for swim lessons. Group lessons are organized according to age and ability. All classes are fifty minutes in length.
