5 Reasons Butterfly Knife Should be Your EDC Knife A long time ago, knives were used as fighting weapon and weapons for defending against the enemies. Later on, it just became an accessory used in the kitchen once the bladed weapons were replaced by the firearms and nuclear weapons. As of now, knives have become important tools as well as weapons. As a weapon, knife serves in self defense against the attackers. As a tool, it is used for doing everyday cutting tasks. Manufacturers have established pocket knives that mainly serve as EDC tools. However, I have come up with an idea of using butterfly knife as the EDC knife. Butterfly knife can be called a type of pocket knife since it can be carried in the pocket. At times, it is called a balisong knife as well. I consider it a masterpiece designed by the manufacturers of the modern era. I have found it as one of the most advantageous knives. There is no other knife that has such features. So, I can safely say that it is the best knife among those being used today. Most importantly, it can be used as an EDC knife due to these crucial features. I would suggest the reasons that make it a good EDC tool, but before I determine those reasons, let me tell you what exactly this knife is. Butterfly knife, as I mentioned above, is like a pocket knife because of its share of features. First of all, it works on a folding mechanism that allows its handles to be folded and conceal the blade. However, the number of handles are two. Yes, this what makes it a rare knife. The uniqueness of this knife makes it popular across the globe. The two handles can be closed and the blade is concealed within the two. Like a folding knife, the blade is then locked under a safety locking mechanism. To open the blade, you need to unlock it and then rotate the handles. There would be a point where the two handles are connected to become a single, thick handle. This handle becomes easy to hold and allows a good control over the knife. Hence, most of the features are similar to that of a pocket knife apart from the number of handles. But, how is it a good everyday carry knife? Following are the five important reasons:

1. Carried in the Pocket The first thing you look for in an EDC tool is the size of it. And then you consider whether you can carry it everyday. Of course, a tool that is supposed to do everyday tasks should stay with you all the time. A butterfly knife is the smallest of the knives when the blade is concealed and locked inside the two handles. When the blade is concealed, it looks like a small stick. Even when the blade is deployed, the size is not a pretty massive one. Hence, the small stick becomes extremely easy to carry in the pocket. Once you can carry your EDC tool in the pocket, it can stay with you all the time. Butterfly knife is not just easy to carry, it is also quite comfortable. You don’t need to worry about accidental injuries. There is a great safety mechanism that prevents the blade from opening unless you want to. So, there is no possibility that you get injured while carrying this knife in your pocket. Ease of carrying makes it a perfect EDC knife.

2. Easy to Use Another factor that you always prefer in your EDC tool is that it is easy to use. You need to use it quite frequently, so a tool that is harder to learn causes disappointment. Butterfly knife is one of the easiest to use knives which makes it a good EDC tool. As you get your hands on the knife, you are already skilled to use. It is a normal knife once the handles are joined and locked. However, due to thick handle, it is easy to control. In addition, learning about the opening and closing mechanism isn’t a problem. Just do it once and you are well on your way to become a skillful user. Ease of use is one of the prominent features of any EDC tool.

3. Includes a Sharper Blade The most important thing attached with the butterfly knife is the blade. The blade is the thing that lets you do all the EDC tasks that you are supposed to do with your EDC tool. The blade on this knife is greater than a blade featured in a pocket knife. A folding blade is not just small, it lacks strength as well. On the other hand, balisong knife has a very powerful and sharp blade. This is the reason why beginners are reluctant to use the real knife. Hence, they prefer using the trainer balisong knife with a blunt blade for safety reasons. This sharp blade allows the users to do hardest cutting tasks.

4. Capable of Doing All the EDC Tasks As mentioned above, butterfly knife features an extremely strong blade. You can do almost every EDC task with this knife. We often consider folding knife a good everyday carry knife, but a few everyday tasks that involve heavy duty cutting can’t be accomplished with the less powerful blade of a pocket knife. For instance, you can use this knife for survival while camping, You can cut branches and wood to build shelter. You can use it for self defense against the attackers. Also, you can use it to fight the wild animals you encounter while touring wilderness or landscapes. Everyday tasks are not limited to just a few. An EDC tool is said to be the one that can do almost all the EDC tasks. A butterfly knife lets you open bottles, and other canned objects. It lets you cut wires and ropes. It can be used in the garden for removing unnecessary branches. It can do tasks like altering clothes, peeling fruits, cutting vegetables, opening packages, and removing nails etc.

5. A Complete EDC Tool Finally, I can say that butterfly knife is a comprehensive EDC tool. Think of an everyday task and see if this knife can’t do it. It has all the essential features that you are looking in an EDC tool. Most importantly, it is a better everyday knife than a folding knife. So, replace your former EDC tool with this ideal EDC knife.
