We Let Artists be Artists

ABOUT BandBazi is a performing arts company with over ten years’ experience touring small to medium scale theatre productions to the UK, Europe and India. We won an Edinburgh Fringe First for new writing for our production, ‘Breakfast at Audrey’s’ and have achieved recognition in the press for the high artistic quality of our work.

“BandBazi’s beautiful portrait of a mind increasingly lost to Alzheimer’s is right on the money” Kelly Apter, the Scotsman

Our track record Since 2003 BandBazi has been in regular receipt of project funding from Arts Council England and have delivered these projects on time and within budget, impressing venues, funders and stakeholders with our organisation’s delivery. We are now in a position to share this knowledge with Professional and Community Artists and Arts Organisations, supporting them to deliver high quality Art

“It is a fascinating collection of living histories, wonderful photographs and testimonies... For anyone interested in local history and minority group issues, it is certainly well worth a visit and provides a great insight into the wonderful multicultural makeup of this city.” Guide to Brighton on BandBazi’s exhibition ‘Like Sugar in Milk’

LET US HELP YOU We know how Artists feel I am an actress and trapeze artist and when I started practising in the late 90’s there were no companies around exploring how theatre and circus could be combined. I went to the Arts Council about a little one woman show that I wanted to develop, where I would use aerial silks as a metaphor in the storytelling. Their advice was to start up my own company. What a learning curve that was! BandBazi was formed, first as a company limited by guarantee in 2001, becoming a registered charity in 2003. I remember how hard it was for me as an artist to get my head around funding applications, employment law, accounts and marketing strategies. I just wanted to get on with creating productions and developing exciting projects. Since 2006, I am glad to say, I have been in the fortunate position to be able to employ an administrator who specialises in the Arts, leaving me free to focus on creating our award-winning productions. Philippa Vafadari, Artistic Director, BandBazi

SERVICES: Project Monitoring and Evaluation We will help you tell your social impact journey. Our extensive experience of reporting back to a range of funders and stakeholders makes us well placed to support the monitoring and evaluation of your projects. Often a daunting prospect for Artists, we can demystify the process and take on board the labour intensive elements of this increasingly essential part of the funding world. Ideally, if we are engaged at grant application stage, we can develop creative ideas with you to monitor and evaluate your project to support you in the development of your working practice. Then, in consultation with you, we will discuss your project and develop creative ideas as to ways in which you can monitor the project’s progress and evaluate it so that really supports you in the development of your working practice. We compare baseline information with final data, looking at both Qualitative and Quantitative evidence in order to create you a bespoke in-house Evaluation Report that can be sent to funders and trustees or used to support future work. Our experience in this field comes from reporting to a wide range of funders on a varied portfolio of projects, both small and large, including the Heritage Lottery Fund; Arts Council England; Awards for All; The Big Lottery Fund; Children in Need; The Baring Foundation; Creative Scotland; The Arts Trust of Scotland; Glasgow City Council and Brighton & Hove City Council.
