You’re in control of your own education. LEARNING RESOURCES

At Hampshire, you’ll take responsibility for your education and design your own academic program, in collaboration with your faculty advisors. Guided by our accomplished faculty, you’ll forge your own path, taking roads not already paved for you. In the process, you’ll learn to seek out people to learn with and from, figure out how to get resources and solve problems relevant to your interests, and work flexibly and confidently to meet unexpected challenges and opportunities. And you’ll have all of our resources to support you on your academic journey. The Center for Academic Support and Advising is the central hub for academic ser vices at Hampshire, where you’ll have access to our highly trained staff and faculty advisors.

provides support and assistance to you and your advisors, for planning and achieving your academic goals. CASA monitors your academic progress and offers a variety of support and programming to faculty and students at all divisional levels.

guides you in building your academic concentration or focus of study and in completing a yearlong independent project in your final year.

Who is an advisor at Hampshire? What does an advisor do? Advisors play a vital role in the lives of our students, and good advising is essential your success. A good advisor has strong interpersonal skills, a deep base of knowledge about the College’s curriculum, and easy familiarity with a lot of procedural detail.

Divisional System

You’ll develop competence in project-based learning across all four years, moving from closely guided projects in Div I that include collaborative learning, to projects in Div II that support your growth in independent work, and result in a robust proposal for Div III and your culminating Div III independent project. The Divisional Seminars are a cornerstone of Hampshire’s divisional system, and support the growth of students across their academic trajectories, including at key transitions between divisions.

THE OFFICE OF

Accessibility Resources and Services (OARS) strives to support students with disabilities holistically, through relationship building, coaching, appropriate accommodation, and intentional referrals. OARS provides ser vices to students with documented physical, learning, sensor y, psychological, developmental, and other disabilities, and also supports students who cannot or do not want to formally disclose. Our staff collaborate proactively across campus to remove barriers, to allow students work and achieve to their full potential.
